I'm in this tribe. I started off with a "level" kit, lift the front 1.75". As I have added weight I found the rear springs not up to the task. I've since added adjustable coilovers, UCA's and Timbren bump stops on the front, removed the front sway bar. On the rear I have a add a leaf...
With 35's or taller it would be a good idea to go with a 44. The added weight and diameter puts a ot of stress on the drive train and steering components.
Rhino Gear is a USA company and the equipment is made in China to there spec. I have one RG tow strap and it's well made, they do have good pricing. I like Gear America, usa co. with import to spec, nice product.
Syn is worth the added cost times ten. Lighter, no metal slivers in your hands, does not store energy like metal line, if it breaks it falls to the ground. You still need to follow all safety precautions. It requires more maintenance vs steel. You really should wash it in a bucket of water...
I recently added a 4tn come a long to my recovery gear. I've been in a situation with the winch pulling the truck and the truck wanting to slide sideways, deeper into the trouble. Now I have a second attachment point to help control movement.
Don't put too much faith in recovery boards. They work pretty good in sand, not so much in soft mud and can be hit or miss in snow, depending on how deep and how compact.
The one thing I don't get is all the money people spend to hang there equipment on the outside of the rig. Just asking some meth head to help him self.
I've been using a Warn Zeon 12-s for three years and very pleased with it, run with cable or wireless. It boils down to how much do you want to spend. The 12-s is about 1300 bucks new, I searched local Craiglist and off road list and got mine, like new for $800.
Most all bucket potties are 5 gal, but you can use a 7 gal and it's much closer to the height that we have at home, this may make points. 7 gal bucket, snap on seat/lid and biodegradable bags are very affordable, easy to use.
So you guys with these 102" whips, do you ever go off road? How do you keep the antenna from being ripped off? I use GMRS most of the time but when with a group that have CB I have a 30" center load, mag mount for the roof, good enough for vehicles close by. Even with the short antenna I...
Falken's seem to be the choice with ZR2 owners. 33's fit with level and minor trimming, 35's with lift and major trimming. You may want to consider gears with 33 or 35's, I have 33's (255/80) with 4.10s and it is a great combination. The taller tire and the extra weight of the tire, up to...
