    My starter kit

I've been asked about my state ATV sticker, water and shovel in the past, never a bucket. I do carry one but another purpose, it has a seat.

    Led headlights

Search Amazon for "H7" and "H1" LED's. From my experence the cheapest units have a fairly short life. Seems like the break point is around $60 a pair for good ones. I've had the same set for over three years and they are still bright as new but the cooling fans make noise for a few minutes...

    Overland tools/spare stuff

My truck has weak inner and outer tie rods, I made a tool roll with the needed tools and spare parts, this plus all the normal repair gear.

    Recovery gear

The wiring from the controller to the winch needs to be heavy gauge, I used #2 welding cable on my Warn. We must be thinking of different things, a winch uses much more than 5 amps. You have three leads from the controller to the winch when you remote mount the controller. Edit to add: I...

    Rated recovery points?

589Fab used to offer a front mount for the Colorado, not sure if they still have them, another option would be Midwest Overland Ind.

First kitchen setup for the Adventurado

Add a cutting board. I'm always solo and use a lot of freeze dried foods, so I boil water a lot. I take a steak or two and pork chops sometimes. I can go 2 days on coffee and jerky. I have all cooking/food stuffs in a Plano tote that I only load when RON'ing.

    Recovery gear

The Mile Marker controller is about a $150 part, you may be able to use a generic controller that is cheaper, it's just a HD solenoid. It's a bolt on part, you need heavy gauge wires and hyd crimps.

    Bolt on vs welded slidders

Most well say that weld on are stronger. There are bolt on sliders that seem to support the vehicle weight with no problem. Both can bend, both need maintenance like painting. My Colorado has bolt on stainless steel sliders, I can use a Hi Lift on the sliders to jack the truck up with no...

    Rated recovery points?

There are front receiver mounts that tie in to the frame rails made specifically for winch mounting. More and more after market suppliers are making frame mounted brackets that take bow shackles. Not every vehicle has suitable mounting points. How do you decrease breakover angle? I can see...

    Rated recovery points?

A front receiver hitch would be the strongest. You could have someone weld a bow shackle mount the the frame. A custom bumper solves the problem but heavy and spendy.

    Dry food storage

All dried food, coffee, jerky, cooking utensils, stove, fuel are in a single Plano tote.

    Cordless Chainsaw

4 years ago I bought a GreenWorks 14" 24V saw, I already had 2 GW tools and 4 batteries so the saw alone was dirt cheap. You need to charge the battery at least once a year to keep 100% charge. 1 battery runs the saw for 25-30 minutes depending on load. It has made getting firewood super...

    This winch that winch

I watched my local Craig's List for several months and found a new/used Warn Zeon 12-s + wireless kit for $800. Couldn't pass that deal up, it had been on the front of a 1 ton Ford for a year then removed, never been used for a recovery. I serviced the gear box and tensioned the rope, does the...

    DECKED system set-up

I found that the dividers and tool boxes for the Decked system limit your options. I store my recovery gear, camping gear, tools, foul weather clothing. Didn't take long to fill both drawers. With locking dreawers and locking tailgate I feel everything is well secured.

Looking for advice on snatch block purchase

I've been using Gear America products, they offer several snatch blocks 9T and up. You have a bit more friction loose with the Rings, but they are quick and easy, I use them in double line pulls that aren't really heavy like a full size buried to the frame in mud...

The Colorado is only out sold by Toyota, there resale is crazy. Like any brand there are problematic trucks but most seem to be very reliable.

New ford bronco capabilities. Is jeep in big trouble?

I rolled up a lot of miles in a 69, V8 4 speed Bronco, I was excited to see the new version but now I think I'll wait a year before thinking about getting one. I kinda like the Gladiator, now I see the used market is flooded with low milage year old Gladiators, must be a reason.
