    Truck Cap Wiring - 2017 Colorado ZR2

I'm going to assume you have interior lights for the cap and also for the 3rd brake light. You may want to check with a shop that sells canopies/toppers. The wiring in the photos appears to be done by topper installer.

I really hate dealing with dead bodies at 3AM, it's dark and difficult to dig a nice hole.

Rear suspension battle - Ride quality while towing trailer on crappy highways, etc. Time for better matched shocks?

If you don't see a improvement with the new shocks I would recommend a set of Timbren or Sumo bump stops. I have Deaver M65's, decked with 300lb load, Timbren off road stops. Recommend a chalk test for tire pressure, it makes a big difference in ride quality, I run 30psi in my 255/80 E rated...

    Recovery Gear - Basics

I would go to You Tube and watch some video on the different come-a-longs and how peeps are using them. I use a 6tn unit that was fairly cheap, imported. Synthetic rope is the way to go, you can find cheap import, good import that cost a bit more or hi dollar made in USA. I've opted for...

    Recovery Gear - Basics

Solo without a winch I would look at a come-a-long or a Hi-Lift jack for uses as a manual winch, come-a-long is the least cost. 100ft winch rope, pair of soft shackles, tree saver. I have a winch and carry a come-a-long in the event I need to anchor one end. Snatch block would be nice to...

    Do I "need" bigger tires?

Consider the added weight of taller/wider tires, many only come in C and E rating and are heavy. This effects performance, braking, MPG. Most mid size can handle up to a 33" before you are really stressing the drive train parts, Personally I prefer a tall skinny tire like a 255/80 or 10x33.

    Legal Weapons and Overlanding

Training, learn your state gun laws, a major task in CA. A 9mm/.45 pistol or a shotgun, Rem 870 is a good choice.

    Camp security

A dead body with a couple of obvious bullet wounds is a great deterrent.

    Regearing

A lot depends on how you use the truck. If you spend a lot time on unimproved tracks gears should be a priority. If you are mostly hiway and dirt roads, gears are not needed. A trans cooer and temp gauge would be a great investment.

    Best Sway Bar Disconnects?

I did a sway bar delete with upgraded bump stops (Timbren) handles better without the sway bar.

    Rig getting heavy

I would bet that over half the rigs I see are over GVRW when traveling down the road. Typical mid size has a load of 1K lbs. I've run 2 stage leafs, Add a leaf and aftermarket progressive leafs, all worked but the progressive (Deaver) gave a much better ride and performance.
