My 2001 k2500 8.1L 4L80E has well over 200,000 miles and the only real problems I have had is the shift motor on the NP246. Living in the Rockies has put it in several situations that should have snapped...

You could use 3M rocker shutz spray. That would give you texture for traction on top and you could paint it all matte black.

I saw one a while back where the builder did a backwards pintle. The eye was on the truck and the clasp part was on the trailer, hard to steal that one.

Up in Johnson County TN has some nice trails, should be fun.
