Welcome to Overland Bound and the East Region Bodie! Look forward to seeing where your T4R takes you! Feel free to reach out if you ever have any questions.
Super old picture but I use Fourtreks mounts to mount thing in and all around the outside of my basket. Awning, 3 tools w/Quickfists, hi lift base, propane tank, etc.. They’re pricey but I’ve never had to worry about losing anything. Rock solid mounts since the day I installed them.
I’m still trying to figure out what is wrong with this honest answer…. Hell I wish I could get a dealer to be that truthful haha. Spend 5 minutes looking at midsize trucks and you’ll realize just how fair that statement was. The entire segment is chock full of oddities with no single truck...
Haha. It’s brother-in-law and I think, perhaps, he meant brown 25 but all his points ring true. I’ve kept my vehicles ‘smaller’ because full size vehicles either won’t fit where I go or they will forever wear the scars of the endeavor. I’ve never had an issue being able to pack enough...
Tire selection in the OE size is pretty not great. Be glad you have the 20 though (the 21 and 22 selection is atrocious) because there is an severe snow service AT tire available in that size. If you decide to do a smaller wheel later I’m sure it would open up your options and get you out of...
I think a lot of people don’t realize that they come with 9.4” of ground clearance. That’s more than a LOT of other vehicles that see this type of use including Subarus.
Grab some smaller wheels and appropriate tires and you’ll be good to go on a lot of stuff. I think some 17’s will fit but in...
Gaia doesn’t come pre populated with routes. It, just like Overland Bound and countless other things, is what you make of it. It’s a blank slate that is nothing more than a tool. No different than paper maps. While I also appreciate the tactile feel of maps and books the useful and resourceful...
Well I figure the time has come to close one chapter and start a new one. My new Bison has already undergone some changes and it’s already proven to be an absolute billy goat off road. I will certainly miss the Subaru’s mpg but this thing has reignited the passion. Thanks to everyone who...
Apologies @DrockinWV, I totally missed your post. Yes the car has been on it’s way back towards stock-ish for a little while now. After punting the deer I was forced to endure a lot of headaches because of an awful body shop and it really soured the car to me. It took 18 months to get it back to...
Thank you @dennisblass! Tires and armor will go a long way towards making your car a lot more capable. I’m compelled to mention the only ‘brush guard’ that I consider worth it is the LP bumper guard. Sadly it’s a pricey bugger but mine put in more work than any other protection piece on the car...
Welcome Dennis! I’ve been seeing your activity on the forums and knew it was only a matter of time before you found this thread haha.
Mods to the 5th gen (15-19) are really well documented at this point and I’d encourage you to simply ask any questions you may have. Beyond that MtnRoo...
Since it’s a Taco I’m surprised there isn’t a well established solution but custom can be better anyway. I’d recommend keeping it out of your windshield so you don’t impact visibility and I’d also recommend a 2nd mounting point for stability. I went through 3 iterations before setting on this...
