@Jeffrey Dill Feel better soon, guy! Thanks for getting me out here though, couldn't have asked for better weather and the sights on the way were awesome! I'm unloading the toy now and will be over at the State Park later (if I'm allowed in this late!)
@BAJA Phill Your little list of recommendations would be wise to keep in any vehicle, 2WD or 4WD. Personally I'm not a fan of recovery boards, but they're extremely useful in some situations, such as when there is no large object in reach of a winch, or if your vehicle has no winch equipped...
@ZombieCat Ain't that the truth! Easy access to every thing is a project I'm still working on, but any thing I need can be accessed in less than a minute, and put away in less than a minute. The less you pack, the less you repack, period!
As one who drives rowdily, some thing that concerns me...
@Jeffrey Dill Aw, no! I hope you get well soon.
Thanks for the recommendations, I scoped out the trails mentioned in the details on a map and will definitely try to run them together, even if you can't make it out.
My group (2 guys, 1 truck) should be arriving in the afternoon or early evening tomorrow. If you're going to run any trails during the day Friday, don't wait for me.
@Jeffrey Dill Have you decided which trails we'll be running for sure? I'm down for any thing other than hanging out at camp, so...
@roots66 That has got to be the most confusing sign I have ever seen. Not sure what message the poster was trying to send, but I'm definitely sure that it's being sent wrong.
@Garyindiane Harmless fun is just the thing, "harmless" being rather open to interpretation by the masses. I mean, I don't care if I leave the trail with a few more dents and scratches, but I don't want somebody else's crap touching my truck, be it hands, towels, brushes, keys, or ducks...
@ZombieCat Well, that shows how many profiles I read.
Secondarily, while this is not the place to discuss such matters, there are many physiological differences which make male bodies far better suited to taking the rough stuff, which is fortunate for us, because our hard-headed tomfoolery...
@ProjectCleanSlate The old adage rings true: "Happy wife, happy life!" She might not ever tell ya this herself, but from one old bro to another, kudos for caring what your wife thinks! Seen marriages wrecked that could have been saved because the two parties just didn't show any concern for each...
@MOAK You're entitled to your fun, and he's entitled to his - I'm not saying either of you is right or wrong. As far as conversation starters go, may be I'm a brute beast, but I've found that the best way to avoid conflict is to avoid confrontation. As with our little interchange here, I could...
@ZombieCat Well, that brings us to a few points.
1. Which is more important to you, your wife's satisfaction or a lighter load?
2. Do you really want to be out on a trip with an unhappy woman?
3. Women tend to require more equipment in their daily routines (which is why they generally carry a...
@MOAK Whoa there, big fella. Some of us daily drive our rigs, 'kay?
I'm not one who does, but give the guy some slack - he's got an overly expensive car that's only overly expensive because of its self-appointed snob culture, and he uses it for the snob culture aspect (LR club meets do not...
@Tacodrew22 I feel targeted. I paid more for my suspension setup than I did for the truck.
(Kidding; while this is true, my truck isn't used for travel, only for off-roading.)
@grubworm My view from the house can't touch that, but I quite enjoy the plant life in my region as well.
I think we...
@grubworm You can experience this same kind of refreshment to a smaller degree any time you find a good cliff, or a river, or a beach, or anywhere that man's hands could not have made, and pause for even the briefest of moments to appreciate the magnificent world in which we live.
Or just look...
Not one I saw, but some thing from an article shared by a friend.
Also sort of curious about whether the one in the background was actually covered with tape, or if that was drawn on the pic to cover up that area.
@grubworm While I am mostly inclined to agree with these statements, mud splashed through the sun roof is some thing I experienced that I didn't bring with me. But it is some thing I took back home.
Refreshed and renewed, this is a good way to put it.
@MOAK 4 times in 25 years? I use it every time I rotate the tires and otherwise any time the truck comes off the ground. So much easier and faster than fighting with a floor or bottle jack, just throw that heavy sucker under the bumper and up she goes; then all you need is jack stands, and only...
