    US Southeast Annual Uwharrie Run

OK, now I'm starting to be concerned. I set up at the same camp site as last year (off 576) yesterday and saw none of the group all day or night, then today saw none all day. Ran all of the trails except Daniel (which I started eastbound, but backed out because I only had my rig and didn't...

Most Expensive Thing That You Have Broken

Well, @grubworm, you just won this thread. I don't think anybody else will be able to rival that, but I could be wrong...

    US Southeast Annual Uwharrie Run

All right boys, I have arrived. I unloaded my rig at Wolf Den and am heading for the camp site.

Is the Overlanding community killing itself

If you want her to stay looking like that, overlanding isn't the way! Let's all be honest here; no matter how much money you make, life is expensive. You make more, you spend more. Does quality of life improve? You decide. Finding your ideal balance of effort, convenience, freedom, and...

What is the best piece of advice you can give a new overlander?

@ThundahBeagle I mean, it might be a bit embarrassing if somebody found out you watched 163 hamster videos before your tour of the Netherlands.

@North American Sojourner Marvelous! I like a good forest, swamp, or bog.

Is the Overlanding community killing itself

Well, I think the "overlanding" community would have a good laugh at this thread. Imagine people arguing about whether or not the community is killing itself, in a thread about the overlanding community killing itself. That's kind of what should be expected, and yet is somehow ironic.

    Music and Overlanding

@Dave in AZ The more annoying the genre, the louder it has to be played!

    US Southeast Annual Uwharrie Run

@JJbyrd Locked gates? No problem, use it as an opportunity to test your backing skills. I think learning to drive in reverse is equally important to learning to drive forward. In fact, if anybody challenged me to it, I'd lead Wolf Den in reverse when we get together at the spot. As long as...

    US Southeast Annual Uwharrie Run

If anybody comes up with specific trails they want to run, we could make a list of "musts" and "mights". I like to start with Wolf Den because it's pretty tame but has some high-center checks that will give first-timers to Uwharrie an idea of what to expect on the other trails. I'm not going...

Post a pic, make a new photo challenge!

I didn't get a decent pic of this (hard to get pics of wheels in the air when you're driving) but it wasn't the only time on that trip. Let's see another rig with wheels in the air, I know somebody has a better pic than this!

2017 vs. 2023 (no changes since) Let's go another round, pics of your rig when you got it vs. now!

What is the best piece of advice you can give a new overlander?

@Ebbs Sadly, I can't agree with that much simplicity. Many do simply go, without bringing common sense, or food, or water, or checking to make sure their vehicles are in half-decent condition before the trip. Some don't come back.

Post a pic, make a new photo challenge!

@danwyandt This was the most weight I think I've ever put in my rig. Lord only knows how much it was. I had to move over a dozen 5-gallon boxes of industrial drink syrups from a restaurant that was closing, to a new one that was opening. Threw 'em all in the back of the Ex; they were stacked...

    Rig Photos

@slowlane People are always like, "It's got 200,000 miles on it, what makes you think it has much life left?" I'm always like, "It's got 200,000 miles on it, what makes you think this is going to be the time?"
