I feel like an apple freak. It's bronco release day. Ha ha.

My 2014 FJ 6mt was awesome, then I had children. . . And the fail hit. HARD. The suicide doors creating a trap with an infant seat, the inability to adjust the driver’s seat properly with said seat installed, the discomfort after 8 hr drives due to the shoddy seats now forced to be improperly...

12v Fridges when not on the road

I leave mine in the truck from March to around November. Keeps lunches and drinks cold in the truck 24/7 through the summer. Winter it comes inside as a spare drink fridge for the garage.

    Refurbishing a cheap Disco 1

Spent a few mornings patching my exhaust back together after my cats were stolen in a parking lot on the night of some looting/rioting here. All ready to go back in for the time being.

    Ice Pack In Fridge

Not particularly as the ice pack would use valuable space for food/drinks. Now I’ve been known to freeze meals going in the bottom of my fridge that are for later in the trip. Turns a steak or chili into an ice block to help maintain temps.

    HAM interference with fog lights?

My radio shop I believe put a magnet in line on my power supply’s wires going to my LEDs from my lighting controller. Was getting a slight hum on a few channels we use around 800mhz, now silent with the lights running. Radios, Lights, and horn are all controlled by the controller so anything...

uv resistant bungee's for stuff on my frontrunner rack or what else?

I’m using all metal axe brackets from Yakima iirc. Quick fists work but I’ve seen several rollovers where they failed in one form or another (often tearing off their mounting bolt) and sent tools flying. Asked our FD guys what’s mounting things in their trucks and most is quickfists style but...

Plasti Dip on Windows for Panel Look or Privacy

I’ve found perforated vinyl to be very good for rear windows without violating tint/sight restriction laws. It’s nearly as cheap as plasti-dip, still gives security yet allows vision out when/if needed.

    Oil catch can

They make sense for some motors, less sense for others, and absolutely no sense for others still. I’ve run them on my turbo cars, My bmws basically have a great one equipped from the factory if it’s kept in working order. On the rover I’m happy if I can keep the PCV recirc flowing well so the...

    Refurbishing a cheap Disco 1

Yeah still liking it, the new baby vs mandatory overtime is really slowing progress on projects atm. Ordered new front spring isolators, bilstein shocks, and sway bar endlinks for the front. Next big project is to pull apart all the rear axle suspension and replace with the rest of the poly...

    Refurbishing a cheap Disco 1

Still just driving it daily keeping notes on little stuff to fix between shifts at work. Being “essential” has its ups and downs.

    Refurbishing a cheap Disco 1

Been coasting along a few weeks, after getting the O2 sensors in and changing the oil again. Driving it daily working on lists of parts needed, and things amiss with the interior.

    Rig ideas

On the discos at least the diesel yields significantly more range from the same size fuel tank. (350mi vs 580mi iirc) Also the torque curve is really great in low range. Most vans don’t have low range, which limits capability and is likely why the OP mentioned not considering them. Land Rovers...

    Refurbishing a cheap Disco 1

All the bits came in this week to get my roof rack and associated bits mounted on the disco. Much better than tripping over them in the garage. Very happy with the clearance with my storage boxes mounted. I’m only around 2.5” taller than before I removed the factory roof rails.

    Rig ideas

Some of the diesel discovery 1s are getting old enough to import. Quite capable off-road, and your budget could really get one in nice shape with room to fix just about anything that needs attention once here. Se7 models Seat 7 with the rear jump seats. With the rear jump seats folded up there...

Love my rhino rack, moved it from my FJ to my rover.

Yeti cooler on a roof rack securely?

My RTIC(yeti copy) has awesome slots to feed 1” webbing through. Open the lid, slide strap through, hook securely and rachet tight. Secures the cooler while allowing access.

    Refurbishing a cheap Disco 1

Appreciate the post, though not too curious on this vehicle at least. It runs closed loop since repairing the exhaust leaks, keeping the fuel air within an acceptable range given the operating conditions. Unfortunately with the GEMS fuel management the fuel injectors are banked 4 to a side so...

    Refurbishing a cheap Disco 1

Got the plugs in, no idea how long they’ve been in but they are cheap enough to replace rather often if need be. I did find the new plugs off a few thousandths in their “pre-gapped” condition so I set them all to the factory gap, this has really smoothed out the cold idle. The previous wires...

What CB radio would you recommend

I run a remote mount CB(Uniden CMX760)and GMRS(midland MXT275), allowing me to have them if I need them without taking up space in the cockpit day to day. This allows me to use the limited cockpit/dash space for my tablet and my ham or work radio. When I leave town my work radio gets removed...
