This pot is getting really warm all of a sudden. :coldsweat:

I wanted a Ranger until I saw one at the OKC autoshow. Had an 89 when I was in high school and loved it. The new one was the most boring truck thing there. Heck the Honda Ridgeline looked better and had a better interior. The Ranger looks like a new Escape with a truck bed. Not to mention the 4cyl ecoboost engine. I personally will avoid a turbo engine as much as possible (exception for diesel) after having a BMW 535i with their twin scroll turbo and the frightening experience of building boost to even get off from a stop and almost getting tboned more than once. Also the Ranger Raptor that's being shown off is the Asian Market. So if we get it I speculate 2-3 years after regular Ranger launch and I'll have enjoyed my ZR2 so much by then. I'm also glad it's starting to get the aftermarket support. It's no where near the level of the Taco or 4Runner however. US Ranger will have a long way to go before it gets that level of support.

@oz45c I have the gas. I did a lot of homework and decided gas fit better for me. Although I still wonder if I should've gone diesel but that's a conversation for the next meetup.

Agree with @Hirvy Hate that Ranger ...saw it at the Auto Show ....Don't think the Ranger Raptor will make it to America. Now the new Bronco..I have my hopes but not high...Raptor is overpriced for a 6cyl Full Size for me. ZR2 is nice and seeing @Hirvy in action was impressive for a stock truck. I love things with motors, Really don't care what name plate it has just fun to tease. I would love to rock a G- Wagon but I ain't got that kind of bling. Also like the VW Touareg and visit the forums and those guys gripe about them but lifted they look pretty good and you know its every bit of Porsche I'm sure its a beast with the V-8 or Diesel in it. Just not sure it can handle that much off roading. Loving the car talk folks. BUT JUST NO ON THE RANGER

I actually drove a turbo diesel Ranger overseas on deployment and liked it. It had scent power but I didn’t care for the body style. I to love most a thing with a motor and I’m defiantly not brand specific. The only concern I have a bout the ZR2 is I’m keeping my Cherokee and wanting to trailer the Cherokee and do trails that I wouldn’t want to take the Colorado on.

@OKT4RCPL A Taco TRD Pro Offroad was my first choice but after test drive wasn't sold. As a 4 Runner guy the rumors of the new Bronco would be the only thing that would be something I'd be watching. I'd expect it to come with some Ecoboost engine as standard and I'll believe the off road cred when I see it. Not to mention the aftermarket support. That kind of thing should totally be on our radar with how I imagine we all want to do our adventures. What would've been awesome is to see the new Blazer that was recently announced be like it used to be where it's like the 4 Runner is the to the Tacoma. Blazer based on the Colorado would be amazing and would sell like crazy. I'd consider one of those if there was a ZR2 version.

You'll want the diesel then for sure, but take a look at the towing weight. It's much less than if you got a z71 or lower level.

I love Ford and Jeep but if I were to replace my XJ I hate to say it but I’d probably go with a Taco and avoid the ranger and colorado

@okieoverlander drive it before you buy it is my recommendation. I wanted a Taco so so bad but just didn't like it compared to the Colorado. I had a G8 GT prior and can honestly say it's a totally different GM than 5-10 years ago. @oz45c they have some great videos of a mostly stock zr2.

I have driven two, a four banger manual and 6cyl auto and fell in love with the 6cyl. Not so much the price tho. That's why I picked up my XJ for $300 plus it does better offroad anyhow.

Can’t beat a $300 XJ in good shape. Not sure what gen Taco you looked at but the new ones are meh. Prior gens are fantastic. They hold their value for a reason. Best part of Overland Bound is that it doesn’t matter what you drive as long as you’re able to get out and find some adventure.

Well Said @Hirvy doesnt matter what you drive. The new Taco is Junk..that new motor sucks and I hope to God they dont put it in the 4Runner. I love my 95 Taco but its regulated to run to towns these days. I am rebuilding a 95 Ford F150 4x4 Flareside. On another note Congrats to @oz45c on the membership we still would have included but now we can admit we know ya in public

Hey y'all!

I've been emailing with Tim from Turtleback Trailers (www.turtlebacktrailers.com). Details are still vague, but he's going to be doing a national tour to give folks an opportunity to check out a Turtleback in person. He said that he would be happy to make a stop in/near Tulsa and OKC!
If there's enough interest, I'll get the details ironed out. This would be around September 1 sometime.

What do y'all think?

I’ve heard that the new v6 is lacking in low end torque that the previous v6 had more of and people aren’t liking it too much. I drove a 2010 v6 taco and liked it.

I'd like to see a turtleback in person if they came to OKC. I've been getting into trailers lately, probably because I still haven't figured how to get my wife and dogs and camping gear into my TJ.
