Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Taken on Saturday.
Went out to test some new equipment I got, as well as do my first solo camping. Stayed pretty close to home on purpose.
Diesel heater stopped working at about 6pm,and I couldn't get it started again. It was giving me an e-2 error code (which, according to the manual, is...
The only thing I'm jealous of with Jeep and Toyota owners is just how much stuff is available to you guys. I have to get pretty creative with my solutions (not that I mind that), but that is a very clean install.
That's true, and if I click on it, it's green. The problem there is that when navigating the trail, I'm not selecting it, and it displays yellow. Maybe have it display using it's rated color even when it's not selected, and change the thickness of the track to indicate selection? That would...
Can I make a suggestion?
I attempted to use the OB1 app for navigation this weekend, and ran into an issue.
When traveling through public land, and using the adventure map layer, I noticed that it was rather difficult to see my route (imported via gpx) when traveling through blm land...
After doing some more research, I've learned that with the vevor heaters, error code e-2 is an over voltage error. This is likely due to a fully charged lifepo4 battery, with a working voltage of 13.3.
I've ordered a 12v 20A voltage stabilizer to try out. I'll update after it gets here.
Yeah, honestly, it works much better than expected. They make higher amperage heaters as well, but I don't think its necessary. I live in the Idaho high desert, and it gets COLD here in the winter. The heater doesn't seem to have any problems keeping up.
Now I need to add one to my 5 gallon...
So, I went out to test some things yesterday.
My diesel heater was giving me some issues, and throwing an e-2 error code. Something to do with the flame sensor, I think?
While it was working for a few hours, it was quite nice in the tent.
I ended up packing up and coming home, as I didn't...
Heading out in the morning for a little solo winter camping.
I've got the 100Ah Lifepo4 in the X right now, and I turned on the battery heater. Gonna find out how much battery it uses overnight.
It pulls. 3.5A when it's running, but also insulates the battery, and it's in a box, so I'm...
I have a first gen, and no front winch bumper. You'll likely get lots more Xterra specific information via vehicle specific forums. In this case, I would recommend Xterranation
Power stations work for ALOT of people. But not everyone.
For example, you can't wire an auxiliary electrical system to most of them. So running camp lights, fridge, water pump, etc off them is practically impossible.
Most of them turn off 12v ports after a period of inactivity. For example...
I mean, if you think about it though, that's not terrible. I paid 650 for my 100AH lifePO4 battery about a year ago. Mine has low temp cutoff, but no internal heater.
I also can't use mine to start the rig.
Keep in mind that the lifepo4 house batteries are not designed to start an engine. You cannot replace your starter battery with a Dakota or battle born, or any of the other lifepo4 batteries unless you get one that is designed for high amp output, and those are not designed for long term current...
I don't know about the effeciency of the dometic fridge, but my both my setpower and Massimo fridges only draw about 35W.
So, single 100W flexible panel would work just fine. Run it through an hqst or renogy 10A solar charge controller, and that should keep you from having to worry too much...
Oh, I get it. We've never had a problem with ours disappearing.... Fortunately.
I have had to threaten to leave her in the desert though if she didn't listen. That usually does the trick.
The versastak boxes are a similar idea to the pack out system, but lighter duty, and MUCH cheaper.
For carrying my tools, I have a 56qt plano tote that mostly lives in the back of the X. In it is a tool roll with some electrical tools, fuses, sockets, ratchets, channel locks, vice grips, and...
He's not told me not to bring my kid anymore, which is awesome..... Considering how annoying 6yo's can be. :grinning:
Thanks for posting that George! I put all these in my calendar, and I don't think I have any conflicts, so I should be able to make all of them!
See you Feb 4th!
