Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Very cool man. I'd love to see a picture of what you're thinking when found.
Now, I'll do an iteration of my dream setup, using this as my starting point:
First thing I would LOVE to address is the power issue, especially at altitude. So there, I think a diesel swap would be in order. That...
I would definitely consider something like a Troopy, similar to the way ASPW set up his. I'd definitely do a roof conversion, if that's available as on option.
I wasn't even talking about what we have. I meant if you could build ANYTHING, what would it be, and why? If that is your current rig, great!
I already like that this is just going to be an open thread on reasons behind the build, with detailed explanations as to how you came to that decision.
@tjZ06 Had this idea in another thread, and I thought that it might be a really good discussion. Hopefully, but having this conversation, new members and old members can have the opportunity to think about mods they've done, mods they plan to do, and what would they change with their current...
Hey, that's not bad. I think I paid 161 each for the kendas klever at2s on the X. When I bought the spare, the price had gone up 50 bucks...
I need to find some cheap at tires for my trailer.
What I tend to carry seems to depend on whether my wife is coming, kid is coming, or both.
I try to keep pretty much everything I need for solo travel in my Xterra at all times. I have a "go bag" that I keep clothes in. I'm still packing it, and making sure it's got everything in it. This way...
I'm not expecting mine to last 10 years of offroad travel. It's more of an experimental platform that I use to figure out exactly what we need in a trailer. Being made of wood means that it's easy to modify for me.
Working on redoing the electrical in the X. Wired up a new relay box, and using powerpole connectors for all the relay switched accessories.
I also replaced the 12v socket in the rear driver's side of the drawer system with dual 30A powerpole plugs (with 20A fuses), and added a 25A solar charger.
I'm out too. I appear to have caught something, and being out in the cold is probably not the place to rest and get better. See you folks on the next one.
Timing belt is being done this year, before we head out on the bdr. It was done about 50k ago, but it doesn't hurt to do it sooner. I think it's going on 5 years since it was last done (I believe the interval is 7 years/100k miles).
Trans fluid was nice and red, and didn't smell burnt when it...
I was running it on the patio without any sort of ducting, so I'm hoping the smell will dissappate after another full day of running. I think I'll order a carbon monoxide detector as well, and the third test will be piping it up into the tent, and letting it run with the CO meter in there. Ill...
I just reallized that Gamora is 20 years old! She's an 03, and it's 2023. Still chugging along without any problems.
I just ordered supplies to redo my relay box. I want to switch my plug interface to anderson powerpoles, as well as update the wires in the relay box itself.
Heading out on...
Most of these are really good points.
I've recently learned that it takes a good 10 or so hours of running these things on high to get most of the smell out. Honestly, that could be what I've been smelling (machine oil, and such), and not exhaust fumes.
I run it on high for a full day again...
This is the route I went, but not everybody has the ability to do that, so I didn't suggest it.
Mine is constantly being tweaked as we learn things about our setup, and being diy, it makes it much easier to do.
The only real reason I'm thinking of putting it in a box, is for weatherproofing. It's entirety possible that I can just place it in the box for transport, and weatherproof all the connections on the heater itself, and run the controller up into the tent.
