    1996--80 series/LX450--Triple locked & Loaded

Thank you, and yes, sometimes there is a drop or two on the ground. Between the front & rear main seals and the tc cover gasket, right around a quart every thousand miles, depending on how I work the engine.. I've been using 15 w 40 for quite some time.

    1996--80 series/LX450--Triple locked & Loaded

Stupid dimwitted me, I didn't even realize this thread existed until recently. So, here goes:: Slee short bus front bumper, Slee rear bumper and tire rack, and Slee sliders. Shocks: front OME 60070L sport shock (or TJM 650GBL120) rear OME 60071L sport shock (or TJM650GBL220) Springs...

    Matching paint

Yes, a lot different... wood reacts to humidity which causes a great deal of expansion and contraction. I must repaint my carriage house after 15 years because of latex paint peeling off. Not because the "Duration" paint, ( guaranteed for life ) failed, but because the tongue and groove verticle...

    Air down...or else

Ok, I'll go along with that. Those old solid axle vehicles were so stiff they didn't need anti-sway bars and my 80 still has them on and doesn't roll a bit. then again, I've an OME suspension, heavy. 850 Js and 864s

    Air down...or else

I gotta agree with this,,, My first vehicle was a 60 F-200 4x4.Very rare indeed, but no sway bars, it was a truck.. The 64 nor the 72 F250 didn't have em, nor did my 76 LC 40. When I had my jeep rubicon i generally left them disconnected. It did roll a tiny bit in the corners, but nothing so...

    Air down...or else

The OP's breakage reminds me of a friend that once owned an off road machine. I went out a couple of times with him, and each and every time, he ended up breaking something. I found out later that he broke something every time out and it was costing him a pile of money. Axles, tie rods...

    Photography

We stayed at the Chisos Mining Company, ate at the tiny Mexican restaurant then on the porch at the motel shared more than a few libations with Frank Armstrong and his cadre of fellow photographers. A night to remember as Frank was a plethora of knowledge, about Big Bend and photography... My...

    What color Trasharoo?

Don't mess with knock off cheapos Go with ARB.. all them folks down in the land of OZ can't be wrong.. or, do like I did, go with Christo Slee... either way, you're gonna get a high quality rear bumper/tire carrier that will more than likely outlast your vehicle. There are others, but OMG...

We had the Diehlmobile painted just before we left for the Monongahela National Forest. Here is a shot taken at our camp site up near Dolly Sods.

We are planning a trip for 6 weeks next April. So far, back packing into the Painted Desert is our first stop, on to Moab, Grand Staircase, Death Valley, Redwood NP, then on up 101 to the Olympic Peninsula, then head home. I'm attempting to include Big Bend as our first stop, but I'm also...

Do you get asked about your rig?

Interesting question. Here where I live in Pennsylvania Jeeps are everywhere. When we had our Rubicon all set up, it definitely turned heads, and created a lot of conversations. Now that we have the 80 series, it is very rare that it is even noticed, let alone a conversation starter, as people...

What tires do you like? (Merged Thread)

Ah yes, the old buyers remorse argument... I went to a stadium concert in my previous life and for about 3 months I actually believed it was great. It was a top rock and roll band and ya know what? about 6 months later I had to admit, (after going to a small venue concert), that the stadium...

What tires do you like? (Merged Thread)

So then, given all of your information, there is clearly a difference in tires, hence, not opinion at all. The biggest thing, and most likely, the only thing wrong with BFG KOs and KMs is the price. I've even had tire dealers try to talk me out of 'em offering up cheaper tires at discount...

cheap advice for all those with lifted suspensions

Yes, being a big fan of ARB products, especially the Old Man Emu suspension kits, I'm a little surprised that there is nothing in the directions about this, or even a cheap 50 cent bracket included in the kits. The only snag was re-routing the diff breather line so it wouldn't rub on the...

    weatherproof DSLR cases

My Tamrac carry bag has been a great bag, countless excursions and 22 years later, It may be time to start carrying my camera gear in a solid weatherproof case. I have two camera bodies, and 5 lenses, along with some macro equipment.. I've seen the Pelican cases but what size? Which interior...

What tires do you like? (Merged Thread)

BFG, KMs and KOs are world renowned for off road strength and on road wear. I've been running them for over 30 years on many different vehicles. I've never had a flat, I've never had an "off-road" tire failure, ever. If it works don't fix it I say, so I'll be on top of BFGs for life..

Thoughts and reasons for your chosen rig

My story, errr , my vehicles story, in a nutshell.... Back in the early 70s a buddy of mine had a GMC pick up 4x4. It was a blast, taking all the dirt roads in Ohio in that thing. I ended up in California and a buddy I worked with there had a 70 K5 Blazer and one trip out to the desert and I...
