    Home made Solar Panel Rack

Excellent, 8400 mile round trip including White Rim Trail, Elephant Hill, including Bobbys Hole, Beef Basin routes to the south, Grand Staircase, Mohave Desert, then up north to PNW then home, I'd say it held up really really well.. not one single loose nut, bolt or strut..

I thought about doing that but my concern for the errant stone chip at highway speeds convinced me to let our gear bags take the hits.

What's your MPG (fuel economy) on the road.

I have learned to avoid fueling up in Missouri . I do know that higher ethanol content leads to lower MPG. As much as 20% lower and Mo, has a very high concentrate of ethanol

Bf Goodrich AT/ K02's or Goodyear Duratracks

That's good advice. Up in Quebec it is the law. Decemner 15th to March 15th all non-commercial vehicles must have snow tires. What's really cool is that when you purchase a new auto, part of the package will be a set of snow tires mounted on steel wheels to take home with you.

What's your MPG (fuel economy) on the road.

That is really good. Flat roads all the way. Is that one of those engines that shut down cylinders until they are needed for pulling power?

What's your MPG (fuel economy) on the road.

Not to pick an argument, I just want to help you out here. I drove 18 wheelers for 25 years, since about the mid-90s our power units had the oem software that kept close track of MPG, speed, distance, engine temps, exhaust temp, turbo pressure, etc etc etc. Often times my instant readout of...

    Home made Solar Panel Rack

For the first month or so I simply had the 150 watt solar panel bolted upon the racks. I had been scouring the local RV stores and the internet for a panel mount that would deploy to a 45 degree angle then fold flat for travel. I think I remember finding only one. It was a full frame version...

    Overland Cooler Size

The major difference is that you are in, as you stated, ambient temps of 45 to 50 degrees. We had one of those types of coolers for a few years, until we started heading west to the high deserts. Our since retired Coleman Extreme couldn't keep ice for much more than 2 days in 75 to 80 degree...

What's your MPG (fuel economy) on the road.

When we have our '96 80 series loaded down and with trailer it scales out at just a bit over 8,000 lbs. 285/75/16s with 3"s of lift. Adding 6% per inch larger tire than stock and checking that with gps, we got 12mpg on our last 8,240 mile round trip, keeping it under 70 mph with cruise...

What's your MPG (fuel economy) on the road.

What's your MPG (fuel economy) on the road.

wait a minute. I had an 04 TJ. Loaded down with all our expo gear we were lucky to crack 11 MPG. empty back and forth to work, 54 mile round trip on country roads I might crack 14 MPG on a good day with a tail wind. And, all this was being lightfooted. How in the world are you getting 27 mpg...

    Overland Cooler Size

Here is our Engel, finally installed utilizing all the factory mounting points and the proper Engel mounting plate. I had to modify the release catch by moving it to the left rear corner and making it operational by drilling a hole in the rear side corner of the plate to fit a screwdriver...

who got the latest FCA letter?

I continue to post this up in the hopes that Chrysler reps will get tired of me posting it up and offer some sort of settlement and/or a bit of hush money. It was a Liberty CRD. Chrysler cheaped out and used the same fuel delivery system used in gasoline engines. Translated - fuel lines leaked...

who got the latest FCA letter?

Typical Chrysler.. I'll never own another. They cost me over $5,000 in repairs. I had complained about the fuel delivery system at the 10,000 mile mark. It failed at 82,000 miles. The entire fuel delivery system had to be replaced. They magically lost the documentation and refused to even...

    How much Fuel is enough?

I used to think the same thing, however, one time we were not able to head south out of the Needles down through Bobby's Hole or Beef Basin because #1, we didn't top off before going in at the Outpost #2, we only had one 5 gallon jerry can. The overlanding out west can be and is much different...

    Forum for Land Use Issues

Hmmm, I had no idea what was going on up in the north country. We have always wanted to go up there after the first frost, set up a basecamp and back pack a couple of one nighters in various directions. Are you saying that we must join up with a pay for play group to get us into the back...

    Jerry Can Security Methods

Yikes, buyer beware on that stuff. I've been using these for decades. Originally they were bolted to a warrior back rack on my old jeep. Now the pair is mounted to the exterior of my trailer.. They are about 40 bucks a piece.

    Forum for Land Use Issues

I would say that this forum has been started and I think the issue is "trail closures" and how to keep what access is left, open for our children and grandchildren. In my case, great grandchildren in another 10 years or so. Public perception, in my humble opinion, is 75% of our battle. A few...
