Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Word on the trail is....some lock cutting off of gated roads, removal of signs and unauthorized trail use over the past few days in the Bald Eagle SF area.
Just a heads up...and a reminder to leave the gated roads alone...we need the signs and stay on designated roads/4x4 HC trails.
Think I...
It was a great 3 hour drive. And then a short trip on pavement to the next section and you can start all over.
There are lots of miles of dirt here. Trying to cover all of them would take awhile. Lots of cool natural things to see.
In the winter...it would be quite interesting. The snow and ice would require tire chains for sure.
This past winter...if you go back through my posts on the members thread....they had people stuck all over.
I would suspect with the amount of water...parts of peale rd may be impassable.
The...
@Dusther210
If you get to the area....this is worth checking out.
You could take other roads or do some of the out and backs and enjoy days here.
Peale RD was alot of fun. Tram rd was very remote feeling.
I have a track. I tried making it a GPX
I can send it in email. Only thing is I am...
So I ran the first part/southeast Map side today.
This was awesome to be on dirt so long.
And tram road to peale road...was worth the trip in itself.
Wife and son said it was the most fun road we had been on...with all the rain it was like driving a shallow stream.
I would have to say...
Got the route done. Figured I would share a section in the most popular BESF.
This route starts on the shared area of the Pine Creek and Bald Eagle Purple Lizard Maps and goes to the motorized site 45 in BESF...setting up the connection to the Roothrock map...
Using google maps as the time keeper and rounding up...looks like 16 hours to complete the loop.
This is pretty much a direct dirt route through Bald Eagle and Rothrock. Many of the campsites are right on it and a good many 4x4HC trails offshoot in the general direction...so I just would be so...
Interesting fact about the area of the GAP...with the different rivers...there are so many roads that go to the river...but only like 4 bridges.
So...pretry much have to make the trip through these bridges...or much further north.
Which is great for the trip...not so much for scouting...
Decided to go through my State Forest day use map collection.
Sure enough...the Sproul SF Day use map covers this area in great detail.
So now I can adjust my route to better suite dirt.
So...the GAP is now covered with a proper use map.
Still debating the extent of my planned scouting...
