Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Still don't have my member # yet, but I finally decided to not be a cheapa*ss and support the cause. Look forward to hanging out and drinking a beer in the future!
I plan on going again this year... got a newborn coming in 19 days, so we'll just have to see how that goes. But a few members from my group are planning on having a camping spot together.
Picked up this bad boy (in this case girl) this past weekend. Meet Artemis, a 2016 TRD Pro 4Runner.
This was the first Mothers Day Present for this momma to be :)
Exploring and the adventure. I'm meant to be out in the wild, in the woods, in the whatever. Spending all week in the city is enough to drain ones soul. Getting outdoors and in the woods is my way getting back to life.
I def agree that off roading is part of overlanding. I do know that a lot of people in a couple of the Facebook Overlanding groups im in believe that "Overlanding" is another term for going to the local ORP and wheeling. Theres a lot of people that think if you dont have kitted out rock...
I try not to self promote here to cause issues, but a good buddy of mine wrote an interesting article for my website titles "My First Overlanding Trip." It was a fun post to read cause he was super excited to get out in the woods with us that weekend.
Check it out if you'd like.
Thanks!
Cody
Looking forward to your adventures! Nothing wrong with a small vehicle, the point of all this is to get outdoors. Hell, we spend most of our time exploring by foot anyhow.
Before recently trading it in for our 4Runner, we explored the midwest in a Kia Sorento and it took us more places than...
I'm more into exploring. Hell a lot of the time my wife and I just park the truck once we get to a general destination and head out on foot. Wheeling is fun on occasion, but not something I want to throw my fullsize rig into.
For me it really depends on your needs. I personally don't need suspension mods as I purchased a vehicle with the correct clearance for my needs.
Tires - a solid set of tires will get you in and out of 95% of the situations that I intend to be in. Factory Michelins LTX At2s are doing the...
Just remember that armor isn't just for rock crawling. You'd be surprised at the number of rocks and sticks in the woods that can give your truck hell. Tires are key for any rig, 4wd or 2wd. Recovery gear is next. If you can't afford a winch off the bat, go get you a come along.
