Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
An old school winch that is a beast, and is underrated in strength. It's design, limits it's use in modern rigs (airbags), but for those that like a simpler, less electronically upscale vehicle, would you use this over cheaper more compact designs?
One of the great things about older rigs, besides the greatly reduced electronic complications, is that front bumper area, that is just crying for a WARN 8274 winch. It might be a dinosaur {the winch design), but it is better/stronger than many in that class today. I have heard that #8000k...
Nice post, very good info on the inner casing design. I also had not heard about a tire being available in 2 different tread depths. My first time TOYO AT2 tires have been satisfactory so far. The future mileage question will be a big factor after they wear down. My next tire will be...
That 3rd pic pretty well nails it. Where traction goes out the window. If it works in the white stuff, it will work most other places. My question is this. On 285x75x16 size tires or similar, have users seen a big traction difference in D vs E ratings? As the D version has those extra...
I believe the Smitybilt has the short arm design. Something about initial dig/grab, and how someone has to keep holding it, and being right there with the tensioner winch line.
Have heard The pull pal is good...sand?...snow....and best in moderately hard dirt. Yes the desert does limit choices.
The downside I have heard is size and wt. The knock-off... Smittybilt,... gets marginal reviews compared to the original.
A friend' humor.......camping near Swains Creek, UT, and....BFE Canada?.......Saskatchewan province, or Eastern Alberta, along hwy 5, The main EAST/WEST hwy across Canada.
X20 Smittybilt....17,500 big boy. Steel cable, as synthetic would be to thick a diameter. Instead of 95 ft. Something like 60 ft would fit on the drum.
Near the bottom, on the right, on the powerbox.
We stayed back to a respectful distance, so we would not disturb them!
Cell phone pic, no telephoto lens.
Was it overall size/dimensions, or....the overhead canopy of trees? Which caused the most problems.
It's amazing how east of the Cascades, the land opens up. I really liked the diversity that comes up their.
Out near Jean, NV, in the 'Jean Roach Dry Lake area, their are quite a few Red Tailed Hawks. More than you would think could be supported, due to limited resources. About 2 miles South of the small airport there, a nesting pair had at least 1, possibly 2 chicks. They made the nest in one of...
See my cautionary about traffic where the 2 hwys meet. Been down their for lotto tickets, a real bear getting out of that truck stop. Had to go south once almost to the train/park, just to be able to turn around. Trying to cross to north bound US95 (VEGAS) was not going to happen.
Watching YOU...
Pick a place that is not on the North side of US 95. That truck stop gets mighty busy, and between it,and the 40, can see traffic buildup when trying to get on the I-40 east at the light.
You might have lost those sensors, but if you ever break a taillight, you will be glad they were where they were . Taillights with them are....$$$$...really to replace..
