  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

    4Runner Owners Registry

$1100 dollars, and no real outlay until last year, means you have a lot of options in the future. Even with that wheel arch, the vehicle looks in pretty good shape. Modifications vs vehicle payments.....that's a easy one. Let the...

Outfitting Your Land Yacht -A Guide to Building a Strong, Full Size-¾ -1 Ton, Domestic Rig-

The Dodge LTD slip rear gets good reviews, in fact, it is considered stronger than a,GM G80 rear. This is of course if either of them are not abused. The Dodge is considered more forgiving al l things being equal. Being that the Dodge has a similar front axle system as the GM, a ARB might be...

Mmm......keep an eye on that. That is a unusual place. I haven't heard of paint issues in that color. I have enough time under my belt to remember MOPAR purple flaking/peeling off in the 70's. Also GM Pickups on 2x times having massive peeling issues on their pickup trucks in the 90's for...

How to protect CB Firestik antenna?

I have had good luck with my WILSON 5000. I have also used fiberglass units. The steel is more forgiving if you expect to be bumping it.

What piece of gear made the biggest improvement to your experience?

Interesting concept. I like the self contained aspect of it, over other options on the market. Price is not unreasonable, and the packability, makes it ideal when stacked/packed with your other gear.

    Bare Essential winter gear

For snow/storm scenarios always carry gear that will help you survive a night if stranded. Things like....heavy coat, over-pants, thermal underwear, snow gaiters, beanies and or hoods, etc. Add ski gloves that are insulated. Your spending the night stranded, not camping for a week. A...

Medical Insurance - Be Sure To Get The Cover You need Not Just The Cheapest!

A good story to ponder about. What a nightmare, as your options were so limited. Sometimes circumstances paint you into a corner, and you can only hope it will work out.

Overlanding with Animals (Pets or Other..?)

A short story with him; Went on a large family gathering in OREGAN. He stayed fairly close to camp, and didn't wonder very far, except with another dog, and a adult chaperone. One morning he disappeared out of camp. Started calling him, and lo and behold, here he comes up the dirt road. Later...

Outfitting Your Land Yacht -A Guide to Building a Strong, Full Size-¾ -1 Ton, Domestic Rig-

The one thing that would upset me the most on off road excursions would be denoting my trucks rocker panels. It's 2019, and my 2003 Silverado 2500 HD, still has clean/perfect non dented body panels. It is also my daily driver, as I don't have the $$$$ for a dedicated trail vehicle. The one...

How to protect CB Firestik antenna?

That's good to know by those exploring options. It will probably save people some money and a lot of aggravation.

Public Lands — The Looming Catastrophe

I don't have an example at my finger tips, but I will apologize for stepping on your toes. Congress approval at around 12%, MUST MEAN THEY ARE DOING A GREAT JOB. The 9th circuit court being chastised more than any other circuit means they are making constitutional decisions, even in the face of...

    Coleman Sickness..affliction...

Have a propane stove conversion, hooked to a tree and bottle. I did this for ease of use in cold weather. Makes it much easier. and quicker in the Am. Try a farm store or well equipped out door store. IFA/Cal-Ranch/Ace/Cabellas/Bass Pro, etc for conversion parts.

    Coleman Sickness..affliction...

Love the teardrop bell shape. Have a 1960's Coleman(all Green), and a early 60's Thermos (metallic silver/blue) lantern. A question: Why did Coleman use RED on some of their equipment, and use all green (traditional) on most other models? This question is pre-silver models.

Public Lands — The Looming Catastrophe

Politicians........they move as the wind blows. Almost all of them have shallow convictions, that will change on a dime. And yes, money and influence are their currency of choice. Knowing what is right and doing what is right, will always come behind what benefits them. Oath of office means...

NEVADA – Spring Mountain NRA Seeks Public Input on Recreation Use in Lovell Canyon

BUMP......it has been almost 6 months, since this last post. This thread is pertinent for all of us who use the outdoors. At least for now, the steam roller of activist closings, have been moved to a back-burner. Not gone, just slowed. IN 2 YEARS, who knows what will happen..

    Dealing with Snakes?

I think shotshells are not viable, except in a revolver. Keep a speedliader of self defense ammo in your pocket for 2 and 4 legged animals. Depending on where your at, snakes are the most likely critter you will meet. I have seen forager rounds made for birds or rabbit sized game in handloader...

I had to cross a river yesterday.

Bumper level, maybe slightly deeper, but not over the hood, or rafting. Besides, Michael's rig has breathers and snorkel. PLUS he went out and tested the depth, and no current to complicate a crossing. I have watched this video before, but it is good as a refresher, to those of us that are...
