Other than picking the region we're going, we've almost never planned anything. That's part of the adventure. We pack what we think we'll need and just head out making it up as we go along. Worked for us for the past 40 years.
It's sorta funny, I moved to Idaho almost 25 years ago to do more fly fishing and bird hunting. I've done almost none of either although I faithfully bought a fishing license every year (every three now that I'm a "senior").
I've had two GSI Pinnacle fry pans for years. Normally used in our RV but I keep the 8" in the van for eggs and such:

There are a couple routes from Ely, NV to get to Vegas. We prefer the inland route. Take HWY 6 west from Ely and turn south on 318. You save some miles and see real Nevada in UFO country. 318 merges back to 93 around Crystal Springs.
Love from Twin Falls
Not to take the thread too off track but if you like Dave Ramsey, buy a copy of "The Millionaire Next Door". Most people with *real* money don't look or act like people pretending they have money and living in debt.
I'd guess "expensive" is in the mind and economic situation of the buyer. When I bought my used '02 LX in 2009, I paid $23.5k for a one owner rig with mileage in the mid-60k's. I thought that was dirt cheap at the time.
But I did my first traveling in a '63 Beetle that cost me $800 and never...
I have a few Scepter 5 gallon water containers but what I use most often is the 4 gallon Aqua-Tainer. For drinking water and coffee, I use Costco bottled water - $3 for 40 500 mL bottles.
Yeah, that last bullet point may work for some but not for me. I've been a renter and a homeowner, I prefer the latter. I'm also a landlord and love renters. :grinning:
Wow, some elaborate set-ups here! I tend to not cook much other than heating water. I make sandwiches, baguettes & cheese, beef jerky, coffee, and wine on occasion. Here's my van kitchen and you notice the sink with the water jug in it (so I don't have to dink around with sanitizing and...
Well, I don't drink much anymore or smoke cigars but there was a time when Laphroaig and Macanudos (Hyde Park) were almost a nightly routine when I was in my 30's.
Some of the bar set-ups here are pretty cool but when I was drinking hard likker, I was part of the bottle and glass crowd, usually...
When it comes to "fanboys", every brand has them, even Jeepsters. The person criticizing my initial response seems not to have read much further when I responded as to why *I* wouldn't buy one.
The main reason I wouldn't buy a Jeep is that the only one worth having, in my opinion, the Wrangler, is too primitive a vehicle for a daily driver. A lot of their models have had significant reliability issues. Toyotas are pretty capable off-road (depending on what you get) but more...
I've been camping and exploring since I was a youngster and I'm now 68 (behind my eyes, I'm still 35!). I was a California deputy sheriff for a few years but was never in the military. OK, that's my background. I have felt for decades that the best all around weapon for survival, practice...
