    Land Cruiser/LX registry

I did a search and found nothing, which surprised me.

    SVO ....Small Vehicle Overlanding

I love the idea of small 4x4 with decent mileage and clearance but they're all way too small for me at this stage of life. Heck, even my LX is too small!

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I drove it to a firearms training class in another town. I had to travel down two dirt roads. Two!

The Search for the BEST Overland Camp Chair

I find the full size sling chairs great. I think ours are from Walmart and we've had them a good ten years. Problem is, they take up a lot of space so I got a couple Helinox clones made by Trekology. Not good for long sits but good enough for a couple hours and very compact and lightweight...

    Land Cruiser/LX registry

Yay! At least there are a few of is. Nice rigs too! I like seeing them clean looking. Clean as in clean design not clean as in a clean vehicle. I just got mine washed for the first time in probably six months.

    Land Cruiser/LX registry

Guess there aren't too many LC/LX owners here compared to other models or brands. Either that or traffic is lighter here than I realized.

    Land Cruiser/LX registry

I see these topics for a few other types of rigs but, as we all know, the Land Cruiser is the finest overland rig out there... Mine is a stock 2002 LX-470 with the running boards removed and 265-75-16 KO2s replacing the stock P load all-season tires.

5 things I like about my car challenge

I drive an '02 LX. Only 5 things I like about it? I can think of a few dozen but I'll play: 1) Having bought it used, it cost about the same as a new Camry 2) Overbuilt and stronger than most production vehicles made 3) Better MPG than expected (I've averaged 15 over the nine years I've...

Full size overlanding pros vs cons.

I've never "run trails" but I want to be able to go down FS and BLM and similar roads without too much drama. I want 4x4 because I owned to trucks without it and got in trouble a few times where a simple part-time 4x4 would have saved my butt. Also, after my first truck (a little Mitsubishi...

Finally joined the fridge/freezer club! Costway 54qt

When my kids were young, we traveled in a succession of three RVs - a truck camper, a small 5th wheel, and finally, a larger 5th wheel. We had a proper fridge in all three but we were traveling, not overlanding. We did take the truck on day adventures but tossed what food items we wanted in a...

    What's in your camera bag?

No photos but I have a Billingham Hadley Pro with assorted Fuji cameras and lenses. Sometimes, I'll carry my Nikon D7200 instead.

Finally joined the fridge/freezer club! Costway 54qt

I love the idea of a fridge but as it's only me that travels in the LX, I make due with a Yeti Roadie. I freeze a few Costco water bottles but most of what I eat doesn't really need refrigeration and I only take that rig for a couple nights max anyway. Fridges are a trade-off - convenience for...

    Toilet Time

I carry the little porta-potti that came with my PW Traverse when traveling in the van. Works fine and dumping the tank into an outhouse is fine as is dumping it into an RV dump. They say you can also dump into a standard toilet but I have yet to do that. In the LX, I usually carry the Pett...

    Camp Photos!

SNRA, ID dispersed camping. I'm only in a spot for the evening so having the van is my preferred way to camp as it has all I need inside. Take out the chair, use the little foot stool as a table, and Bob's your uncle. I like campfires but out west, at least in the forests, I like to be...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

I bought a Toaks titanium spoon to more easily fit in my Mountain House pouches. I'm living on the edge, baby.

When Your Daily Driver is Your Overland Rig

My DD has been my stock LLC since the end of 2009. It does fine as a DD and fine as a trail rig in stock form (but I never push the vehicle because I'm always alone in the back country). The only "mod" is I run KO2 tires (and previously, Big O/Cooper AT tires) instead of the P loads that Toyo...

How to make a killer fire kit

I keep day packs in two vehicles (the ones I drive) and have a variety of ways to make fire. Little kits with commercial and homemade tinder (cotton balls/vaseline), a Bic, waterproof matches, and a sparking method). Overkill and I've never once in 50+ years of camping and travel had to make a...
