Chevy vs Ford vs Toyota pickup

For me, it's 3/4 or 1 ton Fords all the way. Had a 1/2 ton Ford and it was a maintenance hog. Had a Dodge Ramcharger (essentially a 1/2 ton Dodge) that I really enjoyed, but not enough power (318) and again maintenance hog. Driven several Chevys as work trucks, but never really liked them...

    Our van build

More work, Got the counter built, sink and burner plumbed and tested, built the drawers, insulation and backsplash up, and a couple of storage baskets screwed down on the top shelves.

    Fridge&Freezer recommendations

We have an ICECO VL60, works just fine. I do recommend putting a thermometer in each side so you can get the set point right where you want it. Ours tends to run colder than the dial says.

    My Little Trailer Build!

Yep, fix the fenders. Do those wheels fit your tow vehicle (might be a cool idea)? Brakes are never a bad thing... Get a good estimate of the finished weight, so you can build the suspension to carry it. I really like seeing self-built projects.

    Brake controller?

I used a prodigy in my 93 F250. Pulled a 24' camp trailer all over the place, lots of forest service roads. Did a great job. In my van dash space is an issue, so I went with a Redarc tow pro. The box is on the firewall above the pedals, there is a knob on the dash to adjust it. This is the...

What mileage did you purchase your rig?

160K when I bought it, about 168K now. Two highway trips (to LA for the top, and Portland for the 4X4), the rest have been mostly forest service roads, etc. Didn't have a maintenance history when I got it, so I did all the fluids, plugs & boots, belt, hoses, and thermostat. Had to jump it once...

Severe Over-Land "Trail Rash", do you say; "oh no", or "who cares"?

It always bothers me when I "pinstripe" a nice looking daily driver. So...when I got serious and started the van build one of the first rules was "no pretty paint". Went with a truck bed paint so scratches either don't show or don't matter.

Cant afford to buy, so DIY?

I recently commented on another member's trailer build, to the effect that I really like seeing people build what they want, rather than buying whatever is available. I'm not knocking some of the great products available (off road trailers, Sportsmobile vans, Earth Roamers, etc.), but...

Finished my rebuild, suggestions for stabilization and leveling equipment

Pretty low-tech, but I usually dig a little hole under a wheel, or put a rock under a wheel as needed.

Nice set up. I really like to see things people build for themselves, rather than just buying it.

    Our van build

Raptor liner's coverage guide says it covers 2 coats 20 to 30 square feet per liter, depending on how heavy you lay it down. I know raptor sprays well. I measured the van all over and bought slightly more than monstaliner's coverage guide called for. I ended up with a LOT extra, so maybe drop...
