    Heading out to the Southwest

Do I see White Sands NM on the list? If so, let me know when you might be near and if timing works out maybe get together and hear how your trip is going. I'm in Alamogordo, about 20 minutes from White Sands.

Gila Cliff Dwellings, Gila National Forest, New Mexico

It's been a while, but talking about this in another thread reminded me to add it here. The Gila Cliff Dwellings in the Gila National Forest of New Mexico was a fun place to explore. This is the perfect family adventure, does not require a truck, and is either blacktop or good dirt/gravel...

    Heading out to the Southwest

It's been about a year and a half I think since I was last there. There's a primitive camp ground about 1/4 mile from the cliff dwellings itself, the Upper Scorpion camp ground. It's set up for tents, but I pulled up next to the curb and opened my RTT over into the ground area and it worked just...

    Heading out to the Southwest

Sounds like a great adventure. if you're going to be in the area of the Gila National Forest, I'd suggest a trip to check out the Gila Cliff Dwellings. While you don't have to take trails to get there, the road itself offers some beautiful views.

    Coleman Pop-up Project

The first step was getting this back home. It had been sitting for a while, how long we don't know for sure but the registration sticker on the license plate was Aug 2013. The tires had severe dry rot and cracking issues. The spare was the worst. And it was Sunday and the typical places to go...

    Coleman Pop-up Project

My father is wanting to be able and go with me on some of my trips. He can't do as much as he used to, it's hard for him to get up and down at times, and he only has a car and is on limited budget. We've been talking about doing a project together and including my daughter. Previously we took...

    Cold weather sleeping bag recommendation

Wow, I'd hate to see this smaller. Sounds like I have the slightly larger one. Guess that's good. I think I got it off ebay. Has 3 sleeping components and 2 bags, 5 pieces all together. Impressive how small you can compress everything, as big as it comes out being. Sent from my HTC6545LVW...

The G.M. Hummer that should've worked...

Cool. Hope you find one you like. Another tidbit I learned along the way, there's a dealer in Kansas that sells Toyota and he'll sell you extended warranty at his cost. Some dealers do same for Ford. I bought a Ford extended warranty for my explorer (bought used but still had remaining factory...

The G.M. Hummer that should've worked...

Well, hummer is no more, so it couldn't have been a hummer certified used car. I can tell you that Subaru and Toyota certified used cars are backed by Subaru and Toyota just like a brand new car. Thru the dealer network and all and backed by Subaru and Toyota itself. To me only the manufacturer...

The G.M. Hummer that should've worked...

Was this a used vehicle? I've never seen a warranty penalize you for changing fluids early. Heck, when I buy a used vehicle almost the first thing I do is drain and flush everything and put in fresh. Typically I'll use amsoil. You don't know what's been done or how long fluids have been in there...

    Airing down.

Tire manufacturers have application guides based on weight of vehicle and other factors. For example, I'm running D rated BFG TA KO2s on a 5th gen Explorer. Standard tires suggest 32 or 36, but based on weight and the D rated tires, guide said to go 44 psi on pavement. Ride is comfortable and...

    Cold weather sleeping bag recommendation

I don't know which I have, my guess is the older one. Mine is grey with the acu pattern. I've had it for 5 or so years I think. That's why I think it's the older one you mentioned. The grizzly 2 person bag on the roof tent is great, but I still have my sleeping system bag for when I don't use...

The G.M. Hummer that should've worked...

Third party warranties are mostly scams designed to take your money, and have been for years. I've yet to see a third party warranty reliably pay on legitimate repairs. The last one I had tried to force the dealer to put a junkyard fuel pump in my Suburban. Not even a remanufactured one but...
