I originally hoped to set up an El Camino run for like March 16-19 but then I ended up with a last-minute work trip where I won't return until the night of the 17th. I think we're still gonna be doing *some* sort of multi-day run during that week of the 19-25th, but nothing concrete planned. We may end up just loading up the rig, picking a direction for the first day, and making it up as we go. El Camino trip will likely happen in April now. I'm gonna talk to some other folks during the AZ Overlanders run this coming weekend and try to nail down a concrete date.
Depending on what dates you are in Southern AZ, we could try to coordinate and hit some of the borderlands together. There's some awesome stuff down there, I know you mentioned wanting to see Tombstone and that kind of area so we could head that way, there's some cool borderlands wilderness south east and southwest of there, too. We could lead you into NM via the Geronimo Trail if you want, taking a scenic route through the Chiricahuas on the way. Last time we did a route to the NM border that way we took two days to get there, stopping in the Chiricahuas to camp for a night, then camping right next to the NM border on night two. It's beautiful land down there, but for the borderlands camping, you should know that we'd be wilderness camping pretty close to the MX border, and sometimes that freaks people out. Last time we were there we actually woke up to a Border Patrol group tracking a half dozen drug mules somewhere near our campsite. We've camped down along the borderlands a few times and never had any issues personally, never known anybody that's run into trouble either. The Border Patrol presence is pretty noticeable, makes me feel fairly safe.
