    What About A Machete ?

I have a couple of West African machetes around the house and in the Jeep. The locals called the machete a 'koop-koop'. I'm not sure of the translation, but they are a nice, useful souvenir. They grind a curve into the blade for cutting grasses and sugar cane. The steel isn't great, they...

    Awkward Message from Overland Bound:

I prefer forums that are quaint and comfortable as opposed to fancy and cold and argumentative... This forum fits me. And - since you opened the door and let me in, I'm not leaving!

    Photography

I was 'fortunate' enough to get a very gently used Nikon D5300 from a buddy of mine. He grew tired of hauling it around and only shooting in auto mode. However, now my old D50 lenses don't have functioning auto-focus with the new body... Looks like I will have to pick out a couple of lenses...

    MOAB 2016 Expedition

Sounds like an excellent time of getting away with your girl. Enjoy it - once they get busy with other stuff time becomes a valuable commodity. It's great that she chose such a scenic off-road destination, too.

    Ugh...

Hang in there. Just knowing there is an end in sight is sometimes enough to get you through. Not everyone has that hope. Keep plugging away! Like the country song says 'when you're going through hell, keep on going...'

    Troopy love

Man, I do like that. It looks quite clean and tidy, too. Congrats on finding a good truck. Patience does pay off! I'd pull the rear-most seats out and have some more built-in storage space in there. There are so many different ways to build up the troopy platform, looking forward to seeing...

Overlanding Basics – Spontaneity & the Great Outdoors

Being 'ready to go' instead of 'throwing stuff together at the last minute' is so helpful in reducing the stress levels for all involved. Fewer things are forgotten and you tend not to overpack those 'just in case' items. Good article and, if nothing else, is a good argument for having stuff...
