You: “I live in the great state of Colorado.”
me: [closed out of my internet browser in a fit of jealous rage]
Welcome from Texas. You’re correct, Colorado is a great state.
I tend to agree with what PBDNavigate stated. Unless you’re wanting/needing a winch I think it may be a good idea to stay with the stock bumper until they actually need to be replaced. Of course if you’re simply needing a winch there is the option that Tom06LJ is using. I have a friend with a...
First off I want to sincerely say kudos to you for making adventurous memories with your son. As for planning your route and choosing what to see (and consequently what you won’t see), I would consider what things you and your son are most interested in seeing. Different areas will offer...
I have only one experience using it at higher elevations and it was 5 years ago. I camped at approximately 10,200 feet on back-to-back nights. I don’t recall having any issues. Of course only two nights by one person is a small sample size so take it for what’s its worth.
I have used a Mr. Buddy Heater for several years to heat up the tent. It works great and takes no time to heat up a relatively small space. For longer trips I have used a hose to connect to a 20 lbs tank and have not experienced any problems. I recommend giving Kent’s advice a try. A few years...
You pretty much summed up my feelings about my 4Runner. I accept the fuel mileage is bad; I just wish it came with a larger tank. Yes, I realize I can add an auxiliary tank, but that’s really not a “need” for me. Consequently I’ve decided against purchasing an auxiliary tank and instead have...
I can’t say for sure because I don’t have the exact same set up, but I doubt it. I have a 2018 TRD Off Road with The front lifted 3” and the rear lifted 2”. I run 285/70/17 BFG KO2’s and had to push the front fender liner forward about an inch and do a very small amount of trimming at the bottom...
Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas is convenient for weekend trips from DFW. For a longer weekend (preferably 4 day weekend), check out Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico. I spent Labor Day weekend in Lincoln NF near Cloudcroft, NM and really enjoyed it. If you haven’t already downloaded...
I know others mentioned it, but I would echo that I believe it’s important to include the kids in the planning process. I think it makes my own kids feel like it’s their trip too; not just something mom and dad are making them do.
Depending on the age of your kids and how picky they are, meals...
Hey James, I’m also new to OB and came across your post when I searched the forums for “DFW”. Like you, I’m not really into rock crawling, but rather enjoy dispersed camping and hiking with my kids. I agree it can be difficult to find large areas of public land near DFW. My family of 4 went to...
