    Oregon overland camping

@Chad Michael, to answer your question to genocache, yes, both of the YouTube channels he mentioned are people from Oregon and most of their videos are in Oregon.

US Southwest Dispersed Camping Tonto NF, Arizona

Thanks a bunch for the information. It sounds like you must have been in that area just before the Horton fire I read about, which was in that area. Based on what I read, it seems they were able to get that fire under control fairly quickly without it spreading beyond a few acres.

Thanks so much for the tip. Is that an area with good spots to camp or something better to check out as just a day activity?

    Colorado ZR2

I realize you may have already done this, but have you checked with your local dealership to see if they can locate one and have it transferred for you? We’ve done that twice for my wife when we couldn’t find exactly what she wanted at the dealership. Either way, I hope you find what you’re...

What to look for in buying a Rig

To answer your question about sway bar disconnect, that is not a necessity for overlanding. A sway bar disconnect is for increased articulation, which is useful for rock crawling. OverLamb24 mentioned some good things to consider. Additionally, you may want to consider how much weight a...

Glass lids on cookware...Yes? No? Maybe? Help a girl out please.

I’ve been using one pan and one pot, both of which have glass lids, for a while now and have not had any problems. They travel inside a storage bin and bounce around with everything else inside the bin as we head down the trails and I haven’t had a problem so far.

    New badges!

I was pleasantly surprised back when I received my emblem. I’d definitely say “it’s a good quality item” [in Cousin Eddie voice].

    Getting overland ready...frugally

I enjoyed your detailed write-up. As you noted, organization makes a big difference and that’s something I’m constantly tweaking. My wife and two kids go on most trips with me. Invariably every trip has a point where my wife says “you forgot to pack the cheese” or some other item and I say “I’m...

    Vehicle protection priorities

In a nutshell, rock sliders and front skids would be my top priority. After that it depends on how you plan to use your rig. I installed the front skid and rock sliders at the same time. My next addition was a front bumper, but that was simply so I could add a winch. I still have my stock rear...

US Southwest Dispersed Camping Tonto NF, Arizona

I am planning a trip to Tonto National Forest with my family in late November. We have never been to this part of Arizona so we’re looking forward to seeing new things. I use Gaia, Google Earth, iOverlander, and Free Roam for trip planning; however, I’m interested in any input from people with...

Anyone know if Gaia can work off line on a windows based unit using a bluetooth GPS receiver?

I’m sorry this does not exactly answer your question, but I have done that with my iPad and it works so long as I have downloaded the maps to my device.
