I couldn't put a dual battery set up in the X without doing some engine bay mods that I didn't feel like I wanted to tackle. I do know that many people are migrating from a second battery in the engine bay due to heat and finding locations elsewhere. That redarc charger is pretty big and I don't...
Love the idea! I built my Xterra with the same plan in mind. My next build will probably be a Bronco or Tacoma, so I've already got a pretty extensive plan.
The sleeping situation will pretty much be determined by your comfort level/budget. 5 or 6 foot bed? And I saw you go between 2 and 3...
Sad to hear about the accident. The good news is that it is minor. Would definitely recommend a suspension upgrade and eventually replacing the rear leaf springs when they eventually start to sag. I'm looking at ordering some Alcans right now.
I wouldn't call the XTP spacer a must do item. I...
I'm not sure what the plan is. I know the next meeting was up in the air as we weren't sure with Bike Week and Labor Day. Not sure what Tom wanted to do. I'm pretty busy the next few weeks but I could make some time.
You live in the next town over from me so we'll have to plan a meetup eventually.
Just got back from Vermont Overland (VOBS). Four days of visiting towns and enjoying some great trails.
Now getting things slightly adjusted before KOAR in a couple weeks.
I get what you're saying and with the maps this year being the same as last year, I'm using more as a shakedown for my KOAR2020 (UP in Michigan) trip in a few weeks. I'm pretty sure I won't be doing it again as I'm looking to go on either long multi-day runs in NH/VT & ME, or doing some events...
Goodluck on the run Saturday. Unfortunately I am working overnight Friday and Saturday so I'd be too tired. I've got to remind myself to keep checking the ENH forums as I've been so busy I keep forgetting.
Still trying to do something for VOBS, but the VT restrictions by county might bite me...
Rugged Rocks 270 Amp Alternator in place and upgrading the wiring. Protip: go through the passenger wheel well as it is pretty easy. I'd recommend taking the tire off as well...as I tried not to and it took me 2 hours to try to get it back in without doing so....and about five minutes after I...
Honestly I've gotten used to it myself. To open it, just pull and it releases. To close, you hold open the latch to clear (with a slight lift to get it on the catch) and then push forward to lock it in place. I'll take some pictures of it tomorrow if I get the chance.
Greg @ PRG recommended 600 based on having an Aluminum Winch bumper and planned Aluminum skids. I ended up getting some used steel skids so went that way. I think he recommended 650 for steel, and also said that the OME rear leafs were like 650. This was a couple years ago so that may be...
Fletch is a great guy. I've been contemplating putting a solar panel on my hood from seeing his rig to save roof space. I'm actually planning to add a Viair compressor setup pretty close to what he did.
Been trying to get to see more of his live shows, but I work that night.
I'm currently @ 600lb rate with my radflos and I'm fully Armored. Other than my need to replace the AAL's with a good set of Alcans I'm pretty happy with it. I've added a little more weight than my original configuration, so we'll see if just replacing the rear leafs works in my situation.
I...
Many things going on at the same time.
-Adding a LiFePo4 Auxiliary battery system in the rear cargo tray. (Including a test fit picture with my post)
-Building a rear cargo rack which will eventually be modular with the front seats down. Will probably rebuild to a sleeping platform eventually...
