For those looking to do this, you need to use an additional inner frame that connects to the bed floor or frame. The bed rails are not designed to hold up to the weight and will spread out and/or crack due to the stress.
If it’s faulty then yes, you need to repair it immediately. Depending on the issue and what is actually inside it you may be able to repair instead of replace. It’s hard to tell until it’s opened up.
Incorrect. It’s a fully functioning GPS receiver, the “assist” function means that it will use any nearby cell towers to get your location faster on start up instead of waiting for the GPS receiver to lock onto the satellites. You do not need an external receiver if you have a cellular equipt...
Thanks brother! The RAM mount system is second to none in my book and fairly affordable. Even with the longer arms for my phones/GMRS they are rock solid.
I have RAM mounts on my bikes, kayaks, even my lawn tractor(holds my Bluetooth speaker and phone).
I’ve run into that before, I installed hundreds of racks when I was young and working at a large bike shop. The flatter the surface the more the q towers would move. They work great when the opposing towers’ feet are angled. Too bad, it’s a convenient system.
I’m narrowing down rack choices and like the front runner rack but I like the ease of removal of the Yakima foot/tower system that would mount to my truck cap rail.
Do any of you have first hand experience with a set up like this?
I’ll mainly use the rack for my canoe and kayak but like...
It took a few try’s but I finally feel good about a clean set up. 2 channel dual band HAM in the middle(remote head with radio in center console), cell phone on the left, FRS/GMRS on the right. I’ve found CB close to useless over the years.
I’m in SAR, Skywarn, and disaster response. Often...
I went with the powder coated aluminum for weight savings and corrosion resistance. I’m not rock crawling or high speed anything so these will be more than adequate.
BTW, killer build, I checked your thread.
I had to take a quick shot after a run through the car wash today. It will be getting dirty again during an overland vehicle travel class this Saturday.
Those tires are awesome. So many of us get hung up on marketing thinking that we need tube chassis rock crawlers to Offroad when really our daily drivers are more than sufficient. Good on you for overlanding the family truckster.
I went with the Fox 2.0 mainly for it’s on road manners. My reality is that I spend 99% of the time on the road. King is an amazing shock/coil over however the rebuild schedule is pretty intense, Icons are definitely better for Offroad compared to my Fox 2.os however they are double the price...
No matter what way you go in the bed it’s always a compromise.
I’ve followed this for awhile, do you have and skid plates at all? I’m adding the RCI system once it comes in.
I do a lot of cabinetry on the side that would take up less space but they would be super heavy.
Thanks for sharing those pics. I might stop by a fab shop and see what it would cost to have some aluminum fab done similar to the decked gig.
I have thought about the decked and like the idea of it however it seems like there is a lot of wasted space below deck. I might have to take a second look.
