Welcome and post up whenever you want to head out and I am sure you will find someone to go with and show you around.
I really need to post about my daytrips and weekends with more advance notice and get to know some folks around here.
Well I notice you are in San Antonio....and I have friends and family there, not to mention I lived in the area myself years ago.
You will be going to places like Big Bend or New Mexico for adventure and you can do almost anything you want in those places with good tires and some basic recovery...
I use a SensorPush device and it is bluetooth so the phone picks it up no problem.
The nice thing is I have found it useful to place in a number of spots just to test ideas...
How hot does the air intake get?
How hot does the outside of my fridge get?
How hot does the underdash area get...
the low hanging fruit there is the turbo Intercooler.....and I get what you are saying about mud.
There has been talk on the F150 forums about relocation and honestly I have looked at the ducting and thought about an over the engine install of a larger aftermarket unit. Since much of what we do...
Sorry to be a pest...
did you install using Basecamp/MapInstaller to the microSD in a card reader or with the microSD in the device?
You have the Drive 60 from GPScity correct?
Funny I got this to work on an old Nuvi but have not gotten it to work on the newer Drive 60.
I am not a newbe to GPS and using things from netbooks to handhelds, but for some reason I just can not get to work on the Drive 60 I got or my older Nuvi....
I can look at the maps in Basecamp but when I use Mapinstall it says " no unlocked maps"
Back to the interweb, or maybe I will try...
Sounds like a bunch of fun, I wish I could join you but Baja is calling. Please post pics and thoughts afterward. I live in Az and have not done the entire route yet.
As an ICU RN who sees quite a few "self fixes" I completely agree that I would NOT close a wound with anything other than steri-strips in the field.
Lots of irrigation, lots of dressing changes and watch watch watch for infection.
I have seen so many wounds that had to be reopened, irrigated...
I love my 23Zero and owned a Darche before that. Justin at 23Zero will take great care of you and the follow up support is excellent.
We had wicked winds in Baja and the awning did great.
The poles are only needed if you put up the walls as they provided extra support.
I store the walls in the...
Great questions...
The inside is still a work in progress, I am about to redo the 1st version of the cabinets now that I have done a couple of trips.
That is the intercooler hanging down, and you are right in that Quadvan is making me a skid that bolts to the Aluminess bumper and ties into that...
It has been hinted in this thread but I will come out and say that none of these are "Bridging Ladders" or such.
These are "flotation boards" that give you some traction in sand/mud/snow by creating a gripping surface and a grade to come UP out of the hole you are in.
A "Bridging Ladder" which...
I am an RN and often have odd weekdays off and go out solo for day trips and overnighters.
The best thing I ever got was a Spot and now InReach sat tracker/comm. My wife and friends actually enjoy seeing what I am up to on a weekday.
The Spot is cheaper but less reliable and honestly as much as...
It isn't much that you are more than 100 miles away, it is just that I would prefer to stay AWAY longer.
The north rim of the Grand Canyon is a prime example, you can go 500 miles west to east and not see a person but it sucks if you have to burn travel time to come out and get gas then go back...
