I have 3 types of trips coming out of our Phoenix area...
1) Local exploration, take back road and try not to drive more than 3hrs before lunch and a couple hours after
2) Regional trips to border states...knock out the big chunk going and coming with an 8-10hr drive then start exploring with...
Even though I have a 2019 Transit 4x4 with 25k miles I did put a deposit on a new Bronco, it will be a great weekend toy and my sons will enjoy taking out friends in it also.
Love the look, style and my van has the 3.5 Ecoboost and it is very impressive.
That Ironman unit is a pretty standard style that even Home Depot has now.
I have owned Engel, National Luna, ARB and currently run a Dometic. The name brands do last and do have parts if you ever need service.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this one.
Sorry I missed seeing this....things have gotten busy at the hospital I work at, not overwhelmed luckily but busy....
I am central Phx and happy to go any direction to play.
Mount Graham by Safford lets you play in Arivaipa creek and then run up to some serious cool temps
The Alpine area has Big Lake and plenty of elevation, just be bear aware and not leave kids snacks around.
Hualapai mountain by Kingman is higher than most folks think and Wild Cow campground on...
I posted a thread about mid week goofing around if any Az folks are interested

Hello & Howdy,
I work as an RN and often have free weekdays for either day trips or easy overnighters....
Just curious if we have any other folks with odd schedules, retirees or ??? that might be interested in goofing off.
I have a 4wd Transit on 33's with Fr & Rr Eaton Trutracs and plenty of...
I had a Snap Treehouse and loved it....
The only reason I switched to a poptop van was a chance to do a SEMA build.
The Treehouse is aluminum, they are great to work with and setup/takedown is fast.
Well I have been an amputee (left leg below the knee) for 32 yrs. It has gotten harder as I have gotten older (50 now) and my trails have gotten easier just because it is much more of a deal to get stuck or have breakage.
I am currently in a 4wd Transit van with a poptop as that gives me the...
Very nice writeup....wow camping in those temp!
I live in the Arizona desert and we see 40's here but it is an excuse to head to higher ground. Having been to WA I know that isn't much of an option for you :)
Thanks for posting and keep the reports coming
oh you have some amazing play areas down south there....
Go check out Ruby, the caretaker is a hoot and some of the buildings look like you could move in tomorrow.
I love southern az when the temps get stupid here in Phx as there is some nice elevation down there
I went a few years ago and I have to say the campgrounds were more cool than the show. Everyone was super nice and let me look over the variety of rigs.
Thanks....
I laugh when Transit folks talk about my "big tires"....33's, which considering the factory puts on 28's there is a 5in change, but still 33's as big?
It does wheel really well.
The seating position is great for seeing what you are doing.
It is shorter in body and wheelbase than my...
It is a long list of mods that took this little Transit from 28in tires to 33's, Raptor front diff, Eaton TruTracks F&R, 3.5 Ecoboost, Sportsmobile poptop and so much more.
