    Long Term Overland Q&A

Great post and great way to start this thread.... You have some really good points and alot of truth about how individual travel can be. Excellent info on the money, just work hard, save and focus on the goal and it really isn't very hard to put together a chunk of money. We find we spend less...

    Which drone?

Skydio 2 is amazing!!! Depending on your use case of course.... But for me all I wanted was a flying GoPRO type thing what I DIDN'T have to spend all my brain cells flying. I love that I can hand launch from my van window, have it follow me through canyons, trees and switchbacks and all I have...

So I am trying to get better about taking a beginning, middle and end pic of my sticks... however this 2017 Bolivar Belicoso Fino had me enjoying, thinking, and remembering past times with this marca....so no other pics. Funny thing is of the Bolivar line this is my 2nd least favorite...the best...

    Overlanding Cigar Aficionados

I really need to start posting in this thread....especially before it gets so hot in Phoenix and I am smoking late at night in the dark :) This was a 2014 Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona from a dress box. I also have a 50 cab about the same vintage and it is always interesting to see how there...

    MAXTRAX the multipurpose tool

I have been using a set for years and parking on them with rigs that weigh around 8000lbs, at most I might have a little twist that makes them a little harder to lock into place on the mounts. I also have used mine as a wind break, table and so much more.

    Baja Mexico next week

Howdy David, Well since you are from Texas there are a few crossings into "Baja" that work well, but I would stick with either Tecate (I will be using that one on the 28th, look for a red 4wd transit) or Mexicali. You will drive across into Mexico and may or may not get flagged for search. If...

Switching from ARB To SnoMaster Refrigerator

I am switching from Dometic dual zone to a Truma dual zone and the reason is the super low amp draw. Once I have some time with it I will post up thoughts but on paper it seems like a killer setup.

    Super interested in knowing more

How about a definition of terms and some background? How long is "long"? 2 weeks, 2 months? What kind of trips? Dirt only, 2 track only, historic or out of the USA? What kind of setup do you have? Water, shower, solar? Are you looking to travel solo or with small groups? Dispersed camping only...

    Small folding table

I really like my GCI folding table as it is the same size as my GCI chair when folded up https://www.gcioutdoor.com/everyday-tables/compact-camp-table-20/

    Satellite Communicator

I started with the Spot but switched to the Garmin/Delorme InReach a few years back and have used it around the world and love it. Very reasonable price and plans, I can message to a cell phone, email or another InReach if we are both out of coverage. The tracking makes my friends and family...

Gauging interest in El Camino del Diablo (AZ, 3 day)

I have been running the Camino since 2007 and it is only 1/2 the fun it used to be since the border wall construction resulted in some dirt super highways as you get close to Tule Well. The part from Ajo to mid way is still the remote feel and you will love it. I would highly recommend Christmas...

    Overlanding with Anxiety

Since you are in Arizona sign up for Overland Expo and some of the womens classes. Oh and these are NOT dumbed down "ladys" night crap, these are put on by real women who travel solo or compete in events or have years of experience. It will help her see and hear from women who have overcome...

Thoughts on vehicle First Aid/Trauma Kits

water clean enough to drink and as sterile as possible rolls of gauze. That is 90% of what you need. I work as an ICU RN in Phoenix as see lots of field injuries that get dealt with slowly or quickly....the biggest issue is dirty wounds and bleeding. I also work as a Remote EMT and medical for...

    Arizona trip

Tire Size and Bead lock Necessity for Airing Down

I run Method wheels with "Bead Grip" and my 8000lb van has never had any trouble. My Nitto Ridge Grapplers are 45 psi on the highway and 25 psi on washboard/rocks, for deep/soft sand I will drop to 15 psi and have never lost a bead. The key is slow turns and not mashing on the skinny pedal. I am...

Leaving your 12v fridge plugged in?

My fridges since 2007 have all run 24/7 through brutal Phoenix summers. All the brands I have owned from ARB, National Luna, Engel, Dometic have worked great and never had any issues. When my boys were younger they loved that I picked them up from school with snacked chilled and ready :)
