I'd say that REI Base Camp is going to be significantly stronger in wind (and rain) than the Kingdom you had. Just a touch shorter, more poles, and better pole geometry. Plus, if you take it to Moab and it fails, you can always return it hassle-free.
I have a 48" steel version (black one). It's about 8 years old but only used a few times and kept inside my truck, so no weathering. Funny enough, it's too short for my suspension.
Is yours a real Hi-Lift brand or is it third party? Send me a PM and we can sort this out.
Hey all, with the lack of interest in this trip, I'm going to take Monday to wrench on my truck instead of hitting the trails. I got called into work for Tuesday night, so I'd have to leave Tuesday morning anyways (@shroedreamer).
I may be able to push this trip to Wednesday (05/02) for a quick...
Oh boy! Sounds like you need to bust out the test light and see where you’re not getting spark. Could be a loose wire on your distributor or coil. I had similar issues a while back, my ground wire came loose from the coil.
That should work well. I have a quality strap and shackles if we need it. For your own kit, I'd definitely look into some soft shackles. So much easier to store in the truck, safer, and usually stronger. This is what I'll be moving to from my steel shackles –...
Come on out! I'd be happy to give you a driving 101 course and take you on some easier trails at Hollister. You can always jump in another truck on the harder trails if you want to watch/learn that way.
What kind of vehicle do you have? Any off road specifics upgrades?
Yeah, I can see that happening. Pros and cons to both! I'm going with pop out panels on my drawer build (easier to build). I'll let you know if I come up with a way to secure those flaps or if they become a headache on the trail.
That's pretty cool! Most fire roads and dirt trails/washouts don't need 4x4 or lots of ground clearance. I was in Mexico recently and locals were driving their vans and sedans in really washed out roads with big ruts. Good tires and driving skills will go a long ways.
I'd love to see you throw...
I'm pretty sure Staun is out of business now. I think 4 Wheel Parts sells another brand which bought the rights from Staun and are about the same price as the originals.
