Depends on the trails. There's a large range of trails over 800 acres at Hollister, ranging from beginner to super advanced. You can push the limits of your Subaru and develop your driving skills. If things start getting a little uncomfortable for you, you can always park at a camp site and hop...
I wish I could make it on the weekend, but I'll be working. I plan on being out there 04/30-05/01 if anyone wants to piggyback off this trip.

Thanks. My truck is 6,800 lbs. Using the 1.5x recommended rating, that puts me at 10,200 lbs. I could probably go for a 10k winch, but the pricing and weight differences between a 10k and 12k winch are minimal, and I assume vehicle weight will only go up when more modifications happen.
If you...
What was your thought process on adding the hidden hinges on the wings? I've always considered doing pop-out panels for the wings on my truck for more expansive access. The hinges look like they could hold the flap down well to keep rattles to a minimum, but may be a bit too restricting to...
You could probably get someone to spend $130K on yours!
Nice rig though. Really great craftsmanship and engineering in your add ons. Quick question/concern: what does your van weigh and do you really think the Warn 10K winch will be enough?
I used to run a 35x12/5R15 C rating on my Bronco and recently moved to 35x12.5R17 E rating. Same tires. I haven't noticed any difference is ride quality but can definitely say the beefier sidewalls (or slightly smaller sidewall) lead to better highway and cornering manners. The truck definitely...
I've been a big fan of my Black Diamond Moji and Apollo lanterns. Bright and incredible battery life. They always left me wanting a bit more output for setting up camp in the dark or cooking with a large spread.
I just picked up 3 old Coleman two-mantle lanterns. 3 is way more than I needed but...
Thanks for that link! Prices are very good and I kind of like their 60k BTU burner set up more than the Tembo Tusk 10k BTU Coleman setup.
The Southwest Disk kit is a little bulkier but a bit cheaper overall. I can get on board with the multiple disks, one burner/stand, and refillable 5# - 10#...
Anyone interested in going to Hollister Hills SVRA (http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1179) for a mid-week day trip or overnighter in Early May? I have April 30 - May 5 available and would love to meet some OB folks for some light wheeling.
Who's interested? What dates work well for you all?
Bad news – I'm going to have to bail on this trip. I'll set up something for May/June so we can try to connect again.
For everyone else going this weekend - Have fun and be safe!
I bought the cheapest 6-switch S-Pod. I probably should have gone the 8-switch digital route, but the price and feel of the mechanical switches was right. It's been great to me and was worth the money in terms of tidying up my old janky wiring and preventing a vehicle fire.
I haven't looked...
