Sanded and cleaned the roof in preperation for primer and lizard skin.
Taped off a few things and sprayed the primer.
Time for the sound control layers
And now a few coats of their heat resistant coating.
And after it dried.
Now its time to make some brackets and get the...
I hear ya. Every thing takes longer. Just wait until they start insisting on doing things for themselves. Makes getting out the door on time a challenge.
Mine giggle and say its bumpy. If I remember right we had them out by 3 months old. Just don't plan on keeping up a hard pace. Travel easy and take breaks to play and explore with them.
Thanks. My chiropractor has been liking all the extra hours and work. It's a good thing I don't sleep much normally! Probably being more fussy than I need to be for it's intended purpose. But the hope is that it will last for awhile.
I got the rest of it cleaned up this weekend. Lots of fun time with the wire wheel and wax/grease remover. But I got it.
After a final srub with was and grease remover I sprayed 2 coats of epoxy prime on the frame.
Then I put 2 coats of valspar industral semi gloss black paint on...
I spent 18 years wrenching as a certified master tech. Had a few thousand hours of continued training and easily $80,000 plus in tools. Considering my wage the owner would be smashing things if I even considered touching a oil filter. Oil changes are just about a no profit service in your...
Yea the front doesn't get much higher. Most of the fords come with a high pinion front axle from the factory. I've considered the Hi9 before. at the time it didn't seem worth the money. It already has the gears I want and an air locker in it. rebuilt it all 4-5 years back. I may be wrong...
Also pressure washed the newer frame that I will be using so I can get it cleaned up for some paint. Going to replace the leaf spring brackets since a few are getting pretty thin.
Did find a spot for another repair. Nothing a little cutting and welding and reinforcement couldn't fix...
I got the axles and everything I wanted off the old one removed and pressure washed.
Time for the old friend to take one more trip. Off to the crusher.
I know what ya mean. I didn't plan to go this far into it. But after deciding to make it my daily driver as well as family adventure mobile it grew. I was given some requests and definite needs to included or upgrade. And so the tools and parts started moving.
When I went to put the exhaust heat shields back on the body my ocd got the best of me. Just couldn't bring myself to reinstall the dirty and rusty shields. So it was time for some cleanup.
After the first coat of high temp paint. I used some POR15 high temp gray.
Second coat on and...
Spent a little time in the garage to day. Decided to take the engine out of the 95 frame this afternoon. Made a little more room by removing the core support. I wanted to check the lower mount area anyway.
With the bumper and the core support out of the way. It was pretty easy to slip the...
The one in the garage from the 95. Was hoping for the easy route of just using everything under the body from the old one. But found some thin spots in the frame so now I get to do it the more involved way.
