Time to do the same on the drivers side.
So far I have been able to keep plenty of space and good visibility.
Now I have to do some more body tie in up front and some more gussets and then more of the same in the back. But it's getting closer ish...
Time to get going on the gussets. Due to the everyday status and hauling kids. I don't have the space to run big x's and cross braces. So I'm going to all a lot of gussets and each corner. I'm also considering plating them to further reinforce it.
To get it to line up on the top bar I had...
Finally have had some time to get more done. Turns out I didn't like how the front tubes turned out. I don't like how they fit at the A pillar. So I decided to go with a Halo style up front and do the A pillar bars separate.
I'm much happier with the fit doing it this way. I was able to...
Finally back to it again. We had some water issues. So the house kept me busy for a bit. Got the main hoop of the roll cage bent up.
Test fitting the main hoop with the base plates in place. I must have done something right. The fit was nice and snug.
Bolted into place.
Now to...
Sounds a lot like my little boy. At 2 years old he gives his Mom about 6 heart attacks a day. our daughter was always more cautious. She was fairly confident something was not going to end with her bleeding before she'd try it. But not my Boy he is more like "hold my sippie cup and watch...
Have them help you do things around camp. You'd be surprised how much they pick up on. All of our kids have been camping since about 2 to 3 months old. They help gather kindling and carry firewood. My daughter can set up a fire and maintain it. She has for years. Don't bring out...
Needs to be thoroughly inspected to make sure the bearings and ring and pinion are undamaged. But, I'd agree that it doesn't look to be abuse. very little wear or damage is visible other than the missing pieces. Check on the warranty. If they won't take care of it. Find a shop that does...
I don't have it back on the road yet. But after banging on the sides after the lizard skin the tinny and echo are almost completely gone. I also sprayed some between the 2 layers of the roof when I had it open.
I can't say much about the other brands since I have no personal experience with them. I have plenty with the safety seal brand. Stick with a kit that comes with metal handled tools. the plastic will break. Back when I worked in the shop we had a kit in each tow truck. All safety seal we...
I too have some of the RV blocks. I'd just use them but I don't have a RTT. And since I already have some for the camper I'd just bring them. Cheep and easy to use.
Yea, I don't have any plans on getting rid or it. It has yet to let me down. A little cleaning here and there and ready to go. One of the lanterns is from when my mom was a kid and the other is only 20ish years old.
Then it was back to the drip rail delete project. After some epoxy primer and some filler on both sides. I had a few dings on the passenger side I smoothed out as best as I could with wood and a hammer. Then some filler to smooth it out the rest of the way.
Drivers side was in better...
Managed to get some filler on the rear panel and some sanding done.
And after some more primer and some finishing glaze it was time more sanding!
Then it was time for some cleanup and to seal it up.
Turned out pretty good. To bad I'll probably scratch it up or dent in with a year or...
2 good old colmen lanterns and some headlamps. The kids each have a led lantern too. Someday maybe we'll up date but the classics just keep working. We have a fair bit of camp and cooking gear that I got from my grandparents when they stopped camping. So some is over 50 years old.
Removed to bracket that the old spare tire carrier mounted to and cut out some rusty cracked metal.
First patch tacked in place
First patch welded up and smoothed out.
Second patch tacked in place.
Cleaned up and sanded.
And added some epoxy primer to the mix to seal every...
The first 2 pieces of this section back in. I had to remove them to get access to the rusty metal behind them.
Another replacement piece fitted and welded. I decided to put holes in the one side for access to push some seam sealer in.
Cleaned up and ready.
It looks like a mess but...
