im interested in this if it happens. Be a good chance to meet up with some people and get to know each other I’m in Stratford, so not too far of a drive from here either
Yeah, ours is a DD per say. But we don’t have kids, so most stuff can stay in it more than needs to be out if it. It’s truly more if our weekend car to go out of town with. We both drive altimas for commuters to save money/gas. We both drive around 45 miles a day.
Those mega mats are nice...
I have been looking at the same size mat for our 4Runner too. I think when I get the rest of my bed/drawers setup I am going to order a mattress from the foam factory. Not sure if that’s a direction you may want to go, but they look like solid products from what I’ve read.
Spent the weekend installing some ppf to try to save my paint. It’s a pain to install, and im no professional installer. But it should do the trick once I finally get it finished.
We definitely plan on going back soon. We were glad to see how nice the area is, and that it’s only about a 4 hour drive so it can be done in a weekend.
We made a short, weekend trip to Arkansas last weekend. Started at shores lake, up to white rock mountain, then headed toward Cass and wound up camping alongside the Mulberry River Saturday night. It was a good trip, nice to get away from everything for a couple days.
It’s actually just a piece of aluminum angle, the front piece is fully separate so it can be removed for the back seats. I wanted it wider than the box, so unfortunately I couldn’t hinge it back over the drawers. The way it is at the moment I just lift it up to get under the front section, I...
Welcome
There’s a section in the forum called “share your overland routes” that I found super helpful. Haven’t been out on any yet, still getting everything lined up. But it has a wealth of knowledge on different areas. I just scrolled through, looking closely at the ones in the region I am...
What I’ve been looking at is a film made by llumar, I’ve used it on the front of a few different cars. Honestly never removed it, and had our previous window tint guy install it. but agree with the residue possibly being left on after. That’s been what I have been trying to figure out for sure...
I can definitely see how the antenna size would be easier to manage and keep on in tight trails. I downloaded an app to teach me the rules of HAM. Now I just have to get to studying so I can pass the test. Did a quick search on gmrs, looks similar to what my dads company trucks had years ago...
Fair enough. I think they only seem complicated to me because of the license, and not ever using them. Most things look more complicated than they really are until you understand them. I expect that learning them will be in my future though.
i was always a cb guy myself in the past. They’re just easier to me. But it’s looking more like I may need to venture out into ham/gmrs in case I get in a bind or the group uses only them.
i am tempted to try my have at that 3m clear vinyl to save my paint. Just not sure if I’m capable of...
fair enough, those don't look terrible. i don't really want to trash my paint, but some scratches are going to happen in this activity,. as you say, it's inevitable. that's why we bought silver, it hides it well. i'll see if i can make it.
do you guys use cb/ham? as i am new to doing...
I have to work the 11th, but I’ll see if I can make it down on the 12th. I am curious though, are the trails there wide enough to leave my paint on? I’ve read in some other discussions that they can be narrow in places.
I’ll have to leave my Jeep jokes at home I guess.... lol
I can completely understand keeping it quiet. Keeps a lot of people that don’t have respect for the land out and keeps it open to the rest of us. I work with a guy that grew up in Antkers, OK and he had no idea it was there.
I’ll definitely holler when we head that way. Knowledge of the area...
I’ll check out that backcountry navigator. I’m playing around in the ones I can find until I get a good mix to use. The one Boostpowered recommended looks pretty awesome too. I wondered if anyone was napping gpx files down there. It’s one area I couldn’t find much online for, until I found OB. I...
Thanks, I’ll check that one out. I’ve been playing with Gaia, but I am still figuring the navigation side of national forests out. Nothing will teach like doing it, but I want a good platform to use before I’m lost somewhere. Lol
