Have a great weekend but don't post it all on instagram!
Cheers, Walt
I also have a well made pair of Sundowners that I picked up in the mid-90s. Have considered having them re-soled. I've had difficulty finding good boots for narrow, high-arched feet. Been trying out the Merrel Moab ventilators but same figment issue. Will look into the Salomons. Cheers, Walt
Very cool rig... one of the most interesting gear-stowing setups I've seen. I'd forgotten about the Mazda/Ford connection. One of my cars from the 90s was a ford that had a Mazda engine which seemed bullet proof, unlike the rest of the car! Great vid. Cheers, Walt
I had been considering something like this but after seeing just how much dust can get into a cap, I think you would absolutely need a cover for it... not sure a lot of these have covers. I know that some do... don't see that this one does though. Walt
Edit: OK, I see this one does have a...
Rgr Mike... if you know a good spot, let me know. Closer to Perry the better... but I'm flexible. Good luck with the hub... last time I replaced one of those I found out just how weak my torx-bit set was. Walt
Looking at Northern portion (Squirrel Gap Rd on WV side and down to Wolf Trap on the border). Would be getting to that area Saturday afternoon, coming from NW MD. My last time in GWNF was sort of close to Harrisonburg, around Flag Pole Knob... cool area. If still interested, we should think...
Mike, super cool that you created this meet up thread... bummer I missed. Have a trip planned for this Sat morning to do a quick hike up near Deep Creek Lake, possibly some shooting over at Green Ridge (if open), then driving down to GWNF area for some overlanding/camping. Heading back to...
Have been considering a Dakota M538-HT. Really good ratings and reasonably priced. Looking at MURS with Sat phone, cell, and HAM for Newfoundland and Alaska trips. Any feedback from fellow members would be cool. Walt
I picked up my Husqvarna 51 in 1996 and have never had a problem with it. It has hundreds of hours on it but I've never changed the spark plug or air filter... just hit the filter withe compressed air. I do sharpen the chain and have gone through about 6 or so. Might be a tad bit less...
I wear mostly shells (Eddie Bauer, Helly Hansen, Columbia) all really good products. when cold, I'll wear my British military fleece as a later and if really cold, I'll grab the goose down puffy or snowmobile gear. Most of what I have is getting really old but still works great. I only have...
Similar to BearWagon's, I was pretty sure I would go with the bed rack with RTT but I'm not sure now, based on some conversations recently had. My biggest issue with the bed rack is it leaves gear exposed to the elements. I know you can just pack everything up in sealed containers. It was...
