I have one set up. Mine's a bit of a hack... I drag an auxiliary battery with 8 feet of cable around with me, storing it all in the bed. It's just when I go off-roading though. Plus, my winch is about 20 years old and is really for a car hauler I used to have. It's not ideal but paired with...
For this build, I'm attempting to avoid unnecessary modifications to the truck so will start with 3/4" base of plywood bolted to the bed using the bed bolts. H2O tank, aux battery, fridge slide and custom drawers would all be installed/attached to the base. Will need to account for 3/8" gap...
As Matt, we'd appreciate any gouge on camping rules, as applied to a truck with RTT. From what I can tell, the parks allow camping for a fee (if not Canadian), however, mostly interested in some of the more remote areas like Trans-Lab Hwy.
Great information offered here... much appreciated as we're making the trip in August. We unfortunately will have to rush a lot of it (13-days) as we're limited for time. But, I'll take that over no trip at all! It's probably time I start a build thread... I'll be doing some of the work and...
Great responses in this thread... I ended up ordering a set of the TJs along with a fold-up shovel... hopefully will get them in time for Newfoundland Expedition. Cheers
Mike/all,
Regret that I was traveling for work during your meet up... great that you made it happen. It would be great if I could join you next weekend but I've got a dear old friend coming in to stay with us. I did just receive great news today on August Newfoundland trip... will likely post...
Welcome Rob! My wife and I visited Charleston about 2-years ago and I was shocked by how much it had grown in 20 years since my last visit... a bit too much. Have fun with the build. Cheers, Walt
Have a co-worker that went with that Fumoto valve and absolutely loves it. My skid plate has an access panel but I still may get one... like the idea of not having to mess with the plug, torqueing, mess, etc. Cheers, Walt
This checklist is pretty solid, or at least a very good starting point... usually hanging-out on the main page but here's a link:

Green Mountain Nat. Forest is doable from our end, depending on time-frame. It's about 6-7 hours drive. That will be a likely be stopping point for us on the way to Newfoundland... if we make that trip this summer. Will keep an eye on this thread. Maybe it'll work out. Cheers, Walt
Welcome... nice rig and looks like you had a great trip last year. Overlanding is a great combo of interests and this is a great community. Cheers, Walt
