    NoCo Roll Call

Hola. My name is Tom and I have been wheeling and rock crawling for over 40 years all over the Rockies. I live in Loveland, but I am working out of state for the time being. I try to be back one week a month.

What do you use for weather forecast?

That is why I use My Radar. I can at least see in real time what is coming and how it is progressing. The old school forecasters learned the idiosyncrasies of a specific area and did their homework. Things were more accurate 40 years ago than today.

    Best Snow Chains?

Chain laws are different from state to state. Colorado has gone off the deep end due to the number of out of state people going skiing and through the mountains in the winter. They routinely require snow tires or chains. That means the tires have to have the little snow flake on the side or...

    Alignments

I do my own alignments. I do them by how my vehicle is handling and the tires wearing. I align using a tape measure a precision level and since I use solid axles, my results are always spot on.

    Your Go To Jack

As the tonnage goes up, so does the height. Most 20 ton will are bigger and reach higher than a 12 ton. I just carry some 2x12x12 wood blocks.

    Unconventional Winch & attachment design

My winch resides in my garage until trips. When I carry it, I have a 2" receiver mounted to a plate bolted inside my Jeep. It keeps it from chasing me around inside my Jeep in an accident and I have a locking hitch pin to make it harder to steal.

    Unconventional Winch & attachment design

What you speak of is a multi-mount winch. I have run a 12k Milemarker winch for almost 20 years. The best thing is that the winch is out of the weather and will last forever. If you mount it on the bumper, it will corrode and after a few years you will go to use it and it will be dead. Just...

    Ground up off-road trailer build

Way too funny. The local PD can do VIN verifications but not build inspection from what they told me. Sorry for the hassle. Going to be in town over the holidays? I am getting in on the 23rd and won't leave until the 2nd. Would love to buy you a cup of coffee or a beer.

    Ground up off-road trailer build

That is funny, when I built mine, the only way was to take it to Colorado Highway Patrol in Broomfield. They would not even schedule it at Timnath I-25. They made me get a temp tag to pull it down there otherwise they were going to give me a ticket and this was way pre-covid.
