For me its an either/or situation. I have to be back at work on Monday, so I either go to NWOR or do the rest of the BDR. At this point I am thinking it will be the rest of the BDR.
At this point because I did not buy tickets yet and I am not sure there will be a NWOR or very many vendors if there is one, I think I would in for doing the full BDR. I have done the first 3-4 sections, but never the whole thing. I have warned my wife that this may be the plan. I am flexible...
I had been reading about the Air Armor air compressors several months back. They seemed really good and I though I would buy one someday. I was in my local auto parts store and they had one, so I picked it up.
However, before I opened it up I found out that I got the M1A1, 15amp cigarette light...
I agree, traveling as a group is way different from your own explorations. When we are traveling as a group, we need to stay as a group. If the whole group wants to make a change, that is fine, but the whole group needs to all go the same place. This is really important so that we can keep track...
Has everyone got tickets for the Rally? I am getting more and more nervous about getting them. I am 100% in on doing the BDR, but with the whole virus thing I don't want to get tickets and then have it canceled. I also don't want to get tickets and them still do it, but have half of the vendors...
I meant no harm either, just pointing out that there is a difference in the physical headlights depending on the use.
And you are right, Troopies are 2 Doors and that one posted is a 4 Door making it a wagon.
please don’tbe offended, I did not mean it that way.
Yes, they are, but they are also country specific. The glass lenses are designed for RHD or LHD. So the way the light is aimed by the lens causes the light to go in specific directions that can not be fixed with a screwdriver. However on an older vehicle it is a really easy fix, just replace the...
I understand that we here in the Great USA are a LHD country, but it is not that hard to get used to a RHD. Once you get one and get used to it, it becomes a cool thing and a conversation starter. Biggest thing to change would be the headlights so that you do not blind oncoming drivers.
If I...
Well, unless I am dead I plan to go. I do not have tickets yet for NWOR, I was kind of waiting to see what was going to happen, but I may just buy them and hope for a refund if they cancel it.
I like this thread. I have a mount for my Hatchet, but do not have an axe yet. I have my hatchet mounted to the drivers door. It is a Fiskars and it came with a cover/holder. I just screwed that to my door. There is full sheet metal behind it so it holds great.
The Shovel was just a quick mount...
Thank you for your concern, I was not meaning that I wanted anyone to show me how to illegally use it to transmit, I was hoping someone would show me how to use it to receive only, so I could monitor and be in the loop.
However yesterday I started studying for the HAM test. I bought a study...
I also explored the Gutter mount systems. Suburbans have no gutters behind the rear doors. I did find that you can buy gutter mounts though. They are meant for mounting on canopies t allow you to mount things like Yakima kayak racks or pipe racks. I have seen this done on Suburbans and it does...
That would work, but the factory roof racks for a Square body Suburban are rare at best. Finding one in a junk yard for a 30+ year old Chevy will be an extreme find. Then the factory roof racks are weak, they were never designed to hold the kind of weight he wants to put on there. From his...
I think the cheapest way to go is either a CB radio or FRS, the little hand held jobs.
For me I have a CB, I have 4 FRS and I have a UV5-R that does UHF and VHF. I think I can get GMRS on the UV5-R, but for both HAM and GMRS I can't transmit as of now. I hope to change that.
When we meet up I may need someone that is knowledgeable to instruct me on the Baofang, I want to get my HAM license but it has been on the bottom of the list till now.
Looks like a really nice sturdy rack. I would love to find something like that, but I have already started on my own rack and have too much invested.
When you make mounts for it, be sure to check under the headliner. There are cross ribs, you will want to use those and mount over them, or very...
