I want to share a thread with the overland bound community some things that shape my version of this overlanding craze I have immersed myself in.
A little about myself, I am semi-retired with my wife. We have three wonderful kids, my oldest has 5 healthy youngsters. We have a small dog.

My is Rig. It's a 91' Jeep Cherokee XJ (The White Shadow) I bought it 8 years ago and have never stopped tinkering with it. I started out just wanting to explore trails we have access to here in Colorado. Building it to do just that but as time has gone on I have found that day trips are just to stressful to do. And the appeal of week long exploration. I'm not going to go into every little detail about my rig but lets just say it is a work in progress and it keeps me busy.

This is a thread that I want to mostly share some photos of my adventures, projects so as to give others somethings to check out at during these stressful times. I figure picture are always fun to check out. I'm not a photographer these are just from a point and shoot sooooo?Whie Shadow 002 (640x480).jpgArgentine Pass 001 (640x480).jpgArgentine Pass 006 (640x480).jpgDSCN0293 (1024x768).jpgDSCN0389 (1024x768).jpgDSCN0500 (1024x768).jpgDSCN0633 (1024x768).jpgDSCN0638 (1024x768).jpg

One of my favorite quotes is from a tv show (Psyche) Where Shaun is taking to Juliet before she is about to leave on a trip with her boyfriend. And he says to her. Take lots of pictures (not with a camera, but mental pics.) and store them up here (pointing to his mind) and cherish them here (pointing to his heart)
I must say I like to do both!!!! Hope everyone gets the chance to experience your passion, as we were created to experience his wonderful creation. Get out there you won't regret it I promise!

Thank you for starting this thread, we love the Colorado area (especially the Alpine loop), It was a nice break to look through photos of your trips and projects. The trailer projects has me thinking of finding a donor WJ to make a matching camp trailer for my rig.

I know my roots are from doing trails out here in Colorado. (We are kind of spoiled) My goal is to at any time I have a few days off and the time to get away. I want to explore places with out having to drive home the very same day. I like going with experienced and Nooby explorers alike. I feel I can learn a lot from others and it is always fun to see some one get to do something for the first time.
Enthusiasm is contagious and when you have a chance to go with a group who wants to see and do things like this, you can't help it. We are so blessed to have the freedoms we have. One of my wheeling friends came to our country from a region that his family seek-ed sanctuary from. His rig is the green Toyota. He told me a lot of Americans don't realize how great they have it here, He told me this as we looked over the valley from the location of the Iron Chest mine ruins. (Half--moon creek trail)

I can't wait till we can get out and explore.

Yeah I am ashamed to say I have been at the trailer build for way to long. Someone who was inspired by my build thread decided to take a Grand Cherokee and build his version of what I am up too. He is already using his. Ha! Ha! I am glad for him, My main reason I decided to do the build was because the frame cracked on my Sons' Xj and someone suggested the Idea and my wheels started turning, I come from a background of welding- Auto body and Paint (I went to school for it but decided a different carrier path back in the day) so I was stoked to put myself to work on a project. But I also like to work on so many other things. We do 90% of the work on our rigs to go out and play. Like just a few weeks ago we installed a complete OME lift on my buddy's brothers new to him 98' Xj. We have to do the same thing I had to on my rig and install adjustable shackle brackets and new shackles to get the angle correct , we will get to that as soon as we are OK to work on it. And then there is work-play- my family and of course my wife..
I'm currently torn as our vacation plans are shelved. I could work on my trailer but my wife wants to work on our house. Guess which one will win out? Thanks for your kind comment. and I say go for it!!!
