which is your favorite method of going to the restroom when over landing?

I love my porta-potti, it goes everywhere with us. I can dig a hole if absolutely necessary, but at this point in my life I feel like I deserve a decent throne. When its dark, raining, or snowing out, you really appreciate having a friend like this available.

    Toyota Tundra?

Pinstripes are a Tundra's best friend. Well, they are mine it seems.

How many miles per day (or hours) do people budget to reach a destination?

We are usually early risers and during travel days try to be on the road by 8. My plan is to be considering and researching a stop by no later than 1pm, and to be at that stop, set-up for the night and sipping on a beer at no later than 3pm. We do factor in all-day travel days in boring areas...

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

Thanks for your sensible commentary, it is not lost on everyone. I can say that this comment "if you prefer not to use firearms that is fine. I however prefer to have my shotgun with me, I have never needed to discharge it but there have been a couple of bear encounter's that could have gone...

    What do we really need?

Their was a time when everything I needed fit on my motorbike. My needs have evolved with the passage of time and age. At this point in my travel and adventure life I don't really consider a good bed, warm dry environment, cold stuff in a fridge, and hot water a luxury. I would have 30 years...

    What do we really need?

We've done 3 and 1/2 weeks on the road with the two of us and two dogs with no issues at all. I've also spent time on northwest Vancouver Island, and it passes my test of a place to hang out while it really rains. I spent at least 6 months looking for a used one, which can be harder and more...

    What do we really need?

It's taken me quite awhile to get to the is point in our vehicle setup. It's a long way from stuffing a tent in the back of the Jeep or sleeping in the back of my work van, and I'm pretty certain that at some point in the future our setup will grow in size as we enter the next phase of life...

2018 Toyota Tundra Double Cab build

That looks great. FYI, Camera Source online makes a plug & play replacement rear camera for the Tundra. It comes with a long lead so you can place it somewhere that gives it a better unobstructed view. I have mine screwed to the right side of my camper, and the view is still great even with my...

Thanks. It is all about the dogs in our home for sure. They are part of the reason we get out and explore.

Music choices... Sirius XM or your own music?

I have Sirius in my work van, and a bunch of music on my phone. When we go on longer road trips, I just transfer the Sirius to my truck. Reception can be spotty around the mountains here in BC, so the music on the phone is always there.

    Full Size vs Mid Size

Full size truck for my comfort on long road trips all the way now. My previous ride was a well outfitted Xterra (which I really loved), however after a 6500KM trip to Colorado and back my back hated me (5 years later it still does). 2 years ago we took a 8500KM trip to the Arctic and back in...

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

I saw my first wolf last weekend in the Valley. We were driving on the KVR past Chute Lake heading toward Kelowna and it crossed the railbed in front of us. Probably 95 pounds or so, dark silvery grey and black. It was damn impressive, a little shocking to see, but very cool to see wildlife (at...

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

True enough. True enough. Yes, the top one is a Dominion shorty. I really like it, it was my very first shotgun ever. Kicks like a freight train with big slugs..... but you'd know that. I bought the pistol grip Turkish one as it fits in my backpack better, though the pistol grip isn't exactly...

    Carrying extra fuel

I bought a Rotopax once (not sure why now to be honest), the crap nozzle buggered on the first use, so I swapped it out with a regular one..... then gave it to a friend's daughter as she needed something to hold some extra fuel. I swear by my Scepter MFC's. I believe they are almost unobtanium...

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

I'll do my best to keep my subsequent replies to this thread on topic and on question (though it absolutely infuriates me when fellow citizens comment on my legal gun rights who have absolutely no clue regarding legal firearms and legal firearm owners here in Canada - I hope that is ok) I...

    Legal Weapons and Overlanding

Looks similar in length to my pistol grip shorty that I usually carry in my backpack up here in BC. Safe and happy travels to you.
