OK, now that I have effectively stolen this thread, (apologies to the OP) do any of you recent travelers see any problem for a retired old fart (ROF) and his wife doing the Traverse alone?
Timely information, thanks! I had tentatively routed the southern section of that loop so I'll change it. NatGeo maps shows Road 630 to be gated just east of Randall, Ga. Any recollection of that?
I plan to do my first trip on the traverse about the same time so I'll be following the responses too. I plan to start on the east end and go through to Crandall, Ga.

I've spent 40+ years in the tire business. Finding an accurate gauge is difficult at best. Stick gauges are the worst and digital are best but even those are hit or miss. The TPMS systems on newer vehicles are very accurate. Many vehicles have a readout on the info display showing the...
One other thing you may want to check, there were several roads in this area washed out in floods in late spring. I was last in that area in August and some were still closed. Since that time there have been some additional heavy rains (5+ inches) and last week they had well over a foot of...
Copperjon,
If you're referring to the 150 miles I posted, you or your buddy's truck will have no problem navigating them. The only caveat would be with snow and even then, 4WD will get you thru if you have a modicum of skill. Most are county gravel roads which happen to go thru some very...
Thanks Free-Roemer. I was hoping to find a source without going into the fuse box. I'm not finding one and have posted this same question on three different forums. So far no one has a better suggestion.
I'm installing a switch and relay to power my compressor which is mounted under the hood. I want to power the switch with a switched source to prevent any possibility of the compressor coming on without the engine running. Where is the best place to access switched power under the hood?
Here's a well written commentary on this subject from a SME on another forum. Read post #5.

I have GFC#2. Actually that is no longer true. I had the first GFC on the east coast and it was shipped to me in May. It got damaged in freight but fortunately not enough to prevent me from using it. At first, GFC said they would replace the damaged parts on an east coast delivery. Then they...
Looks like we are going to be in east Tennessee on the start of this trip so we may do some of the Georgia Traverse headed west and then south on the Natchez Trace Parkway all the way to Natchez, Mississippi. I've found an interesting site about the Louisiana Byways...
