Hurricane creek to max patch NC

I found conditions surprisingly dry. I'm from central NC and it is completely soggy around my neck of the woods.

Hurricane creek to max patch NC

I did it this afternoon and found conditions to be A-OK. As @dougie117 said above, there were some deep ruts. They were at about 1.5 miles north of I-40 that were pretty deep but otherwise, the trail was in good shape. I was in a Tacoma which has 32's and is lifted a couple inches and I drug...

Thanks! I've done it before, just not recently and was wondering about conditions since all the rains.

Hurricane creek to max patch NC

Yep, it's been rainy. I spoke with a local this morning and was told it has been rainy and dreary but actually nothing like they had in Feb.

Any mild trails near the Triad that could be a day trip?

Sorry, from your listed town my calculations are less than 2 hours via Hwy 421 to downtown Blowing Rock. It's worth the drive. You could always go south to Uhwarrie......... There's mild to wild trails there.

Any mild trails near the Triad that could be a day trip?

Lots of gravel around the Blowing Rock area. You're 90 minutes away and could easily do 5-8 hours of dirt in that area. Look for Globe Rd going south from BR to Hwy 90, then to Mortimer. From there down Wilson's Creek to Craig Creek Rd to Hwy 181. From there go north a few miles to the first FS...

    Whoopie Sling for recovery?

Good info there @systemdelete. According to Sampson the appropriate bury length is about 28" so my 10' is a little overkill but it suits my purpose.

    Whoopie Sling for recovery?

I've been hauling around a 100' section of 3/8" Dyneema as a winch extension. I've never found a method that I liked for shortening it if it became necessary. I recently came across "whoopie slings" in the hammock world using 1/8" Dyneema and that sparked the idea. As it turns out, they were...

    Smoky Mountain Overland Rally

Is this event happening this year? I searched for it a few weeks ago and couldn't find anything and now the event schedule is empty.

Planning a trip to Uwharrie National Forest.

If you're going during the week this time of year, the campgrounds will be pretty secluded. Weekends, not so much. Stop at Eldorado Outpost to buy your pass and talk to them about what you'd like to do. They will have good recommendations.

Camping and routes in Utah, Colorado, Arizona for upcoming trip?

You might try contacting Jake at New Mexico Back Roads. He certainly knows the area and is leading/guiding a group doing the same thing.

Texas Big Bend National Park Event in Future?!?!

If you go this summer you won't have any difficulty getting campsites as the temps are usually over 110 degrees.

Fort Mill, SC to Kalispell, MT

Seeing as no one has responded, I'll make a couple of comments. Google says it's about 37 hours from you to Kalispell. Round trip that is six 12 hour days of interstate. If you're a glutton for interstate driving perhaps you can do it faster. To me, either of those leave very little time for...

Texas Big Bend National Park Event in Future?!?!

Just did BBNP as well as BB Ranch State Park. Was in the area from Feb 20 - 27. All the developed campgrounds were full and many of the primitive road campsites were full. Spring break is starting and the rangers said they would get even busier thru the month of March. As was stated earlier in...
