I did the Virginia and West Virginia portions of the MABDR this past summer. Easy driving, don't remember getting into 4WD.

I don't have any files but if you stop at the Eldorado Outpost and purchase your trail pass, they will have paper maps. In reality, the Uhwarrie trail system is not that big.

Interesting. I have a 550 and a 590. Both operate on GPX so my guess is your mapset is old. I will have the 590 with me as well as GaiaGPS on either my phone or an iPad mini so it will be interesting to see which does best. I have a PerfectSqueeze for the iPad and it works great.

I've done most of the Puppy Dog on a dual sport motorcycle. It is very scenic in a Vermont kind of way. Beautiful farms and very green. My estimate is its 60% pavement and the dirt portions can be done in a minivan.
