I would be surprised if they monitored ham radio, however with an unlocked ham radio you could broadcast on the Park Service VHF frequencies in an emergency.
This net is put on by the Texas Off Road Amateur Radio Club (KF5TOR) using the W5FC D-star repeater (node A). Net begins at 8:30pm central time every Wednesday as long as they have net controls.
They would certainly like to have more check ins and I know quite a few here enjoyed the old OB net...

Hopefully some of the other handheld radio manufacturers will do like TidRadio did with their H3 and H8 and put bluetooth programming capabilities but until then and for those older chinese handheld radios check out the TidRadio BL-1 bluetooth dongle.

This year I will be working so I will operate for a handful of hours after work.
Find a club and get on the air or set up your own and make some contacts.
That is my understanding, not for everyone using GPS satellite devices but amateur radio operators that also use such devices. I do not know if it will be ported to RF or if it will be internet only.
