Snapped a couple pre powdercoat shots of the Rotopax and the tank mount. Everything's coming together just like I planned... which makes me worry haha.
I hate those disposable bottles for a number of reasons so I wanted to get away from having to use them. Tank is a 1 gallon/5lb bottle that I...
I still use CB and am considering adding a mounted FRS radio to the wagon instead of dealing with handhelds all the time. A lot more people that I travel with use FRS. HAM has its obvious advantages but I don't know a single person who uses it.
I'd be glad to help set something up. I'm already doing a lot of legwork for ~20 Subarus next weekend so how hard could it be for ~5 haha. I'll send a DM for details @Chris Jones
No problem. We have a great community here and part of that is how helpful everyone is.
I'm so on the fence with that. It's pricey but well built and convenient. The thing I can't get over is how much it will impact your departure angle unless you do a custom rear bumper.
Traction Jack...
To add on to what @15Canyon said. You're going to want a full size spare. This works out because you can do a 5 tire rotation. You'll extend the mileage, have a functional spare on the trails, and you won't have to worry about damaging your drivetrain. The down side is that the spare will most...
Armor! It's not a delicate car but skid plates/dif armor should be high on your list. Primitive would be the company I'd recommend. You're starting with nearly 9" of ground clearance so tires alone will do wonders when you pair it with Subaru AWD but even stock rubber will take you far. Be...
Love that's there's a meet this close to me! Sadly I work two weekends a month and the 6th is one of them but I'll be watching to see all the final details. I have 4 weeks of vacation to burn so who knows haha.
Thank you @TrailDodo310! Gotta love the long roof haha.
I've been swamped at work but here are the latest updates.. I'm finally getting around to installing my CB, my custom propane tank mount for the rack is nearly finished, and I finally bit the bullet on Black Oak lighting for the bumper...
If you're interested in getting out with other Subaru's, some of whom are OB members, there's a good Mtn Roo Midatlantic chapter based out of Maryland. We have a weekend event planned for April 22-23 if you're ok with driving a couple hours to Bald Eagle State Forest in Pennsyltucky.
Sadly I never got a chance to really enjoy it with the exception of driving, problem free I might add, to and from work. The rest of the time was spent shoveling and running the snow blower. I love snow and I was bummed that I didn't get to enjoy 2+ feet of it. Here's one of only a few pictures...
Awesome to see another Subaru that wants to get dirty! It isn't a frail vehicle so I'd start with worrying a little less. To be honest the most limiting feature of the vehicle is the MT. Aside from that a lift, armor, and with some off road seat time you'll be surprising Jeeps on their own...
Beat me to it. I was going to suggest the longer Forester struts as a great starting point.
There's a wealth of knowledge on this forum about a lot of things but Subaru's aren't one of them haha. There are Subaru build threads and a Subaru registry so they might be a great place to see what...
