Bit Off More Than I could Chew on Trey Mountain Rd.

Yes it is. I don't even know who I'd call. Might be able to find someone to get us, but then my truck is still back there.

Bit Off More Than I could Chew on Trey Mountain Rd.

My wife and I decided to take another trip up Trey Mountain just north of Helen, Georgia. We had been up there before and had no problems with the gravel trail. We thought it would be nice to take another way down this time, to mix it up and explore. Well, the ways down are NOT created equal...

    Zello PTT App ?

First time I heard of it was the other day. My Special Operations Captain (fire dept) was telling us that they are using it to some extent in Texas. He had a clip of a guy who was looking to join a rescue team. It was funny cuz the guy was just saying how big and strong he was. "I'm 6'8" and...

    What boots do members wear

I usually wear a pair of sage green steel toe Rocky's that the Air Force was nice enough to give me. I also have: Under Armor, that wore out after 4 years of daily use. Rocky's, some sort of waterproof hunting boot that I use when I know I'll be in wet. Wolverines, I've worn on and off over...

Lets See Your Rigs Packed For A Trip

Packed for a three day trip of tent camping in North Georgia last fall. The back seat was packed with two sleeping bags and extra blankets. If we needed to we could have used another tote and fit 4 people comfortably. This was 0 dark thirty the morning we left. I think it's easy to get...

    Vans as overlander vehicles

Yea we used to have one of those in Kuwait to run our personnel around. It wasn't diesel, it was a decent vehicle from what I could tell. Probably pretty easy to work on anyways, not a lot of electronics.

    Darthyota's Raptor Build

I know it, I'm just messin. We don't have many uses for sliders in the flats lands of southern Georgia. I'm just as well suited with some heavy duty skids and watching where I drive. Lol I am impressed by your fabrication work though. Keep it up, I think I speak for everyone when I say WE LOVE...

    Darthyota's Raptor Build

Yea, here's your sliders boss! Darth can you knock me up a set while you're at it? Those should fit an FX4. :tonguewink: They look awesome! It's good to have a shop and the ability to fabricate.

    Vans as overlander vehicles

I've looked at 4x4 conversions for vans once. The price drove me away, I could do a diesel swap in a Jeep for about the same price. The only way to do it that would work for me would be to find a factory 4wd. I feel like a van makes a perfect stealth camper tho. That's really how I would set...

    N-Fab side steps feedback?

I have looked into the Lund Rock Rails for my F-150 and all the hands-on experience I found said they wouldn't support weight. They basically just protect the rocker panels from debris getting kicked up on the trail. From what I saw in pictures they DO NOT attach to the frame, instead they...

Anyone interested in an all electric overland rig?

Not for me. I'd be nervous about the range. At least with a gasser or diesel I can bring extra fuel. Heck, I can get almost 600 road miles out of my truck without extra gas. It's a neat concept though. I love the front cargo space, it opens up alot of options for storage and camp setup. If the...

How do you sink a Jeep?

I ran across this pair of pictures on Facebook. So how do you reckon this happened? Going too fast down the trails? Didn't check depth before trying to cross? Sucks either way. Y'all be careful out there.

    Rubber Clamp Long Term Review

Agreed, the ones we have like that have no signs of stress. This onebdoesnt support much weight. It stabilizes an axe handle which has the head supported by a tray.

    Rubber Clamp Long Term Review

Disclamer: These clamps aren't on my vehicle. They are installed on a fire engine that has seen 4 years of service at a full-time career department. The clamps get used almost daily, so compared to what you will see, this is EXTREME use. So we were cleaning the engine today and I decided to...

BFG A/T K02 or TOYO OPEN COUNTRY A/T II?

I'd like to think the mark of a quality product isn't the warranty but the fact that you never have to worry about using a warranty. I'm running the Toyo's now and like them. A 35x12.5 AT is better than a 275 Pirelli Scorpian... whatever. My Toyos are worn and slip fairly bad in wet roads...

    PANTS

In the summer I wear 5.11 and lightweight Carhart shorts. It's too hot for anything else down here in July and August. When it cools down or I'm doing mechanic type stuff I'll wear Carhart, Dickies, or Saddle Bred jeans. If I know I'll be in deep brush I'll throw on a pair of briar britches...

Is the term "overland" being misused/abused?

I do think that what most people call overlanding is more so traveling to 4x4. I also think there is too much emphasis put on the off road gear aspect, not every overland vehicle needs to have long travel suspension. It's easy to fall into getting "stuff". Concentrating more on gear than...

    F150 Overland build

I would love to have a hard she'll. I like the way they look on our trucks and have the added benefit of keeping things dry. Or out of the direct sun, depending on your climate.

    F150 Raptor.

I don't think the Raptor will feel any smaller in the width department. I wouldn't trade my 14 FX4 for anything but a new Raptor, but I don't think it would be any better on a trail except for the suspension.
