That's one of the best set-up Gen 2's I've seen. Many things that work on the Gen 1 can be used on the Gen 2 as Nissan didn't change much of anything on the newer trucks, totally different skin and interior, added DI and 7AT, but the frame and many of the mounting points are the same as Gen 1...
This is awesome! I love this gen of Pilot (aside from the trans issues, but you have the skills to address that if anything happens)
I'm very surprised to see one being modded in such a way.
Personally, I like the in-shell or under body idea as I'm not a big fan of lights all over my truck in non-traditional places.
The idea of lights on the rack would be useful camping as they are well over 6 feet above the ground, lights pointing down are more comfortable than lights pointing out.
A few years back I installed lights under my bumper (similar to your idea of IN the bumper) to help with scene lighting when loading/unloading my boat at night. Worked good for that, but when I'd go camping and try and use them, they seemed to make way too much glare. I ended up hiding LED...
Well, Nissan went all "Gillette" and made a "woke" ad campaign:
So, I won't be pondering whether or not I'll be buying any more Nissans. Nissan vs. Toyota is a moot point for me now.
25 years of buying Nissan and Infiniti now ends.
"driving" lights generally means a more narrow beam pattern, useful for higher speeds.
"fog" lights are very wide and not much distance.
"diffused driving" seems to be somewhere between driving and fog.
If you'd like to light up slow speed trails or illuminate a wide area, say like a campsite...
If you can't/don't get a cap, I gotta say some of those setups with the custom frame and RTT over the bed look really nice and seem super useful. To me, almost a toss-up over a cap, but certainly those setups are at least as much $$ as a NEW cap.
I owned my truck for 9 years before I found a...
Once our son goes to college, it'll just be 2 of us.
That Crew Cab functions like 2/3 of an SUV if no one sits back there.
Having a FS CC truck with a camper is the best of both worlds for certain people.
Nissan did a similar thing to their 2020 Frontier that Toyota did with the Tacoma, downsized the previous 4.0 V6.
I don't agree with it! Both the Toyota and Nissan 4.0 V6's are better suited with their torque-heavy power. Although I think the new Nissan 3.8 is actually a significant bump in...
Is there a difference between LEER and ARE when it comes to security?
We've been planning a spring break overland trip through the Sierras and stopping at Knott's Berry Farm in CA, I kind of planned on keeping all my gear in the locked canopy under a black moving blanket....it's a LEER cap but...
The only thing "small" about Tacomas are the interior and the engine!
Big price tag, big gas consumption, fairly underpowered. And that orange-colored one certainly seems at least as long as the GM and taller making it "look" pretty big.
They are more narrow, and have great 4WD systems on...
Speaking to a locking diff....my truck originally came without a locking rear diff. I did run into one instance many year ago, on a trail in the spring, we were about 30 minutes into a trail almost to our destination, there was a big slab of packed snow/ice in the middle of the trail. I thought...
FS truck will be fine. For overlanding, most people probably don't want to take routes that are so small only the smallest rig will fit, because it's been my experience in the state I live in, a tight route leads to even more hazards. If only a Suzuki Samurai will fit, then believe that a few...
I see you are from Canada. I am under the impression that vehicles in Canada are about 20-30% more expensive than USA? That Tacoma still sounds very expensive, but many Japanese rigs over 20 years old are seeming to appreciate in value these days.
I don't know how the Canadian market is, but if...
Wow, very interesting.
I have even looked at the newest Armada and seriously considered it as a half-price Land Cruiser. Nissan did seem to leave a few key items off of the latest Armada, which wasn't based off of the Titan this time but based on the global Armada, and then de-contented with no...
Excellent video! I'm building my Nissan Titan in a similar way.
Question for you on your canopy/elevated bed setup....how you feeling about the vertical space in there?
I have a similar canopy on my truck, I was going to do in-bed pull out storage like yours, but got a bit concerned about...
I gotta admit, some of my biggest issues with Nissan comes from the Ghosn era.
When Akio Toyoda took over Toyota a few years back, he promised to breathe new life into Toyota. He didn't like how bland Toyota had become, and now his latest efforts have paid off. It's why I am excited about the...
Somehow, Nissan screwed-up the VK56 in the Gen 2 Titan and Armada/QX. The only difference known is that the previous VK56 used PFI and the newer one is DI.
Cylinder 7 has been failing in these trucks. Early enough that Nissan has to warranty it, but for an advanced engine, they are only...
