If we all spend less than we make, then where a person lives does not really matter. It is more about the choices we make than where we live. As a side note, where we live is also a choice.
If anyone can not afford where they live, they should consider relocating to a more affordable place.
I find the backup cam useful on trails, to help watch my departure angles. I suppose it could also help with parking, but I am old school enough to still look out the mirrors and back window!
This description may fit some folks in the US, but certainly is not typical of all. Many folks work long hours, but they just don’t take time off, I disagree that they don’t have it available to them. Just because they choose not to use the time does not mean they don’t have it!
The same could...
I prefer the feeling of doing whatever I can on my own. I strive to only hit up a shop if I get stuck or way beyond my skills. Heck even then I usually try it myself first!
Overlanding will only become “elitist” if the folks doing it become that way. Most folks I run into in this area, are good down to earth folks who are passionate about spending time outdoors. If that is elitist, then I am all in!
I use the same leather treatment oil that I use for my leather jacket and hat. It’s kept them all in great shape for almost 9 years thus far and they show almost no signs of real wear.

I also would say you should use whichever tools you have and are familiar with. If your looking for new tools, I use my MacBook Pro for all my major editing due to the power and tools available. I don’t always carry it with me, but for its capabilities, it should not be ignored. As a side note...
I agree you should use whatever the folks your interacting use. The clubs I meet with here in my area are CB and GMRS users, so that’s what I pack in my gear. I also will be getting a ham license, for future use.
Don’t discount Amazon. I actually buy a lot of my gear there. Same brands , just like the free shipping and many times I can get the same or better pricing.
The better prices is not always the case, so just watch closely on that.
There are a lot of folks who think the latest toy will just make things great. Perhaps they are right, who knows. For me I try to figure out what I actually need and then explore to the limits of where I can go. If I find that I need something new, then I work on that, but its more fun to...
