Welcome! Lots of great folks here and tons of knowledge to share. Georgia has some great places to travel as well as the surrounding states Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida. So many cool places to see and explore!
I tend to agree for the most part with others here. The best rule of thumb would be to upgrade areas that your most worried about first.
For me it was the fuel and transfer case areas, then moved on to the sliders. I try to avoid steep approach and departure angles, so those areas will be lay...
You would actually be surprised at the number of people used to off road parks that don’t plan ahead. Having onboard air and a tire patch/repair kit are essential!
The nitrogen filled tires are less susceptible to temperature change, that is the only real advantage. As far as airing down and refilling with air, you will not have any issues.
I have had this situation on my last 2 vehicles and no side effects from the change over. I also agree with the...
A good soft bed, long leash, and a 30’ cable to use when I camp. Shadow (my pup) loves to ride and gets excited whenever we are at some new location for her to explore!
If you trust your mechanic, then you should listen to them. If not, you should find a new one!
But in all seriousness, I have heard great things about the Old Man lifts and they have great reviews by users. Properly installed they should serve you well for a good while.
Today I added a 1.5 inch lift to the girl! Now Timberwolf sits a bit more level and has enough clearance in the fender wells to properly articulate when I am hitting my off road adventures!
I agree with other here, skids are great but no entirely a requirement. If you are cautious and pay attention, you can avoid places where they are really needed.
As you upgrade you rig, they can be added; especially as your adventures grow!
If you need a lift, you should keep it small. Anything 2.5” or less should give you a bit of clearance without altering the ride or handling too much.
Closer to stock is always better for overlanding. Unless you really need it, you should just skip the lift altogether.
I run Nitto 275/70/R18 and they do well when I air down to around 18-20 for off pavement driving. Depending on the terrain and your comfort, you can lower it to what makes sense for your rig.
There is no real “magic” number, it’s more about keeping enough air in the tire to not break the...
Today was applying graphics! With this new compass out front, maybe I won’t get lost. However, if I do, will I really even care? Getting lost is half the fun in being out there anyhow!
Indeed, I went with a Barricade bumper since I like the low profile winch plate. It keeps the winch mostly below the grill so almost no air flow reduction. It is significantly heavier than the stock one, but the added protection of the steel vs plastic was a winner in my book.
